What a day that was yesterday. I’ve been managing athletes for more than 25 years and I’m lucky enough to have been a part of a bunch of wins, championships, Gold medals, and everything in between. I’m very blessed to have lived the life I have. But last night was different. Maybe it’s because I’m older and have older kids now that are on their own paths to achieve great things, but last night simply meant more to me, and that in no way minimizes all the other great events in my professional life. I think the biggest part of it is that two years ago Levi had a SX championship for the most part locked in. Had the wins and the momentum and then Nashville happened directly in front of my seat which evaporated everything and the championship was lost in a winners take all scenario, and congrats to RJ on that. But then came the heartbreaks, the injuries, the doubt, the wrong place at the wrong time scenarios and you see a great kid getting repeatedly knocked down and rebuilding, and a team behind him dealing with the same. But last night when it was on the line and you MUST execute, my guy did. And that felt different because it’s just not easy to do, especially after years of heartbreak. Last night changed peoples lives forever and reminded me that if you never quit, never stop believing, and surround yourself with the people who truly care about you, you will get there. Congrats to Levi, Alex, Mitch, and the entire team surrounding the 47. And thanks to Levi, Brooke, Sara, Paul, Rob and the rest of Team Kitchen for trusting me to navigate this ship. Here are the two first corners yesterday from Unadilla. In slide 1 you see the guys on the inside trying so hard to get the start from a bad position just going dead straight with no consequence from the team leader who conveniently gets the holeshot and you know how the rest plays out. In slide two you see the 450 guys all Turing into the corner with nobody doing anything stupid. If this type of riding happened in the 250 class I think we would actually end up with better racing. Seeing this type of stupid shit nearly every weekend is pretty irritating. by @btnfly
