What do we mean by “Go Beyond”? It started with Project Beyond the Ranges — a Movember fundraiser, and a genuinely crazy idea to try something harder than I thought I was capable of. A tough triathlon over the Southern Alps of New Zealand. “Go Beyond” was with me from day one of that journey. Funny enough, a few podcast hosts covering PBTR started using the phrase before I ever said it myself. It just stuck. Off the back of it, people kept asking what I actually fuelled with. That question became BTR Performance — Beyond The Ranges and our first product Enduro80. Since then, going beyond has meant something different for everyone I’ve talked to. Hunters pushing further into the backcountry. Athletes chasing a distance they weren’t sure they could finish. Or just deciding “far enough” isn’t good enough today. What does going beyond mean to you? by @btr.nz

We’re backing the Flying Kiwis at the Backyard Ultra Satellite World Champs this weekend. Fifteen runners are representing New Zealand on a 6.706 km loop that starts on the hour, every hour, until there’s only one person left going. It’s a format that strips everything back to one question each hour: can you go again? That’s what Go Beyond means to us, pushing past the point where you think you’re done and finding there’s more there than you thought. We’re proud to have Enduro 80 in the team’s kit for it. Best of luck to every one of you. We’ll be following every lap. #GoBeyond #BackyardUltra #FlyingKiwis #UltraRunning #BTRPerformance by @btr.nz
BTR Performance makes endurance fuel in New Zealand. Today we have a new logo, and it is the only thing about us that has changed. The old logo was only ever temporary. We placed it while we refined the brand, because we needed something on the pack and something on the site, and the work that actually mattered at the time was getting the product right. It did that job for us. It said the name, and not much else. BTR comes from Project Beyond The Ranges. Last November I swam five kilometres across Lake Tekapo, ran sixty over the Two Thumb Mountain Range, and rode two hundred and ten home to Christchurch. I had planned for twenty four hours and it took twenty nine. Somewhere in the middle of that, running on a mix I had put together myself because nothing off the shelf had ever worked for me, the whole thing stopped being an idea and started being a business. The name works twice. Beyond The Ranges is where it came from, and said out loud it reads as Better, which is the part that actually matters. Going beyond isn’t just the product. It’s how we chose to look. So the identity was designed to be different, not to stand out. There is already enough shouting in this category. We wanted something closer to the gear you never think about, the stuff you pack because you know it will hold up when the weather turns and you are a long way from the car. Measured, not decorated. Made for the field. Things you expect to work when you need them. The standard has not moved. It is the same one we set at the start, and everything that carries this logo gets measured against it. The brand has just caught up to it. Go Beyond. by @btr.nz
PACK MY PACK WITH ME 4 days chasing red deer in the native 🌿🦌🤎 Packing for a short but steady walk in. Of course I’ve decided I need the biggest pack known to man 🫠 PLB is already packed, some yummy back countries, first aid kit, rain gear, warm layers and all the other jazz I’ll need for the 4 days. I know my pack looks massive but… sucks to suck 🤣🤣 Just keen to get out there and rip into some mean hunting 🦌🤙🏼 #reddeer #huntingnz #ambassador #hunting #packout by @btr.nz
Three years, two 70.3s and one crossing of the Southern Alps. This is how Enduro 80 was built. Off the shelf fuel and no real plan. We felt good until we didn’t, then hit the wall and cramped hard on the run. The lesson: more deliberate carbs and electrolytes. Maltodextrin, fructose and electrolytes weighed out by hand to the milligram. Ratio after ratio, tested in training until one sat right. Similar course, different problem. The energy was there but the gut wasn’t. Everything came back up not long after T2, and the wall followed. The lesson: the carbs had to sit better. Through 2024 we refined the mix and raced it at smaller events, getting better each time. The biggest test was still to come. An unplanned product test. A Movember triathlon over the Southern Alps, fuelled only by Enduro 80. • 5km swim across Lake Tekapo • 60km run over the Two Thumb Range • 210km ride to Christchurch 29 hours. No fuel issues. A small launch to friends in the endurance world. The feedback was strong. After a pause for an overseas trip, we came back ready to take it to market. Samples went to a test team from across New Zealand and multiple disciplines, people who would put it through the wringer. The feedback held, while we built the brand quietly in the background. 80g of carbohydrate per serve. Built to keep you going, hour after hour. by @btr.nz
PRODUCT REVIEW Was lucky enough to try out the @btr.nz Enduro80 over the weekend. Tune in for my initial thoughts. by @btr.nz
Sports nutrition built from the inside out. A decade as a New Zealand Army logistics officer teaches you one thing above everything else. You take a task, a deadline, and not enough resources, and you make it work anyway. That same instinct is what built BTR Performance. For years the products on the market were not doing the job. So the Enduro 80 carb mix got developed the slow way. Ratio by ratio, electrolyte adjustment by electrolyte adjustment, tested in training and in races until it held up when it mattered. Then came Project Beyond the Ranges. A 5km swim in 8 degree water, 60km run over the Two Thumb Range, 210km on the bike. That mix went into every bottle for all of it. At hour 20. At hour 25. No gut issues. No flavour fatigue. Just fuel that kept working. If that problem existed for one endurance athlete, it existed for others. That realisation is where BTR Performance became real. by @btr.nz
