There’s a place called home I can almost see…

The inspector comes tomorrow, and we’re hoping to receive our certificate of occupancy! Moving trucks arrive Friday!

Tonight was the first time I’ve been in our new home after dark, playing with the lighting and watching the rooms come to life. It is thrilling to see the outcome of what we’ve been dreaming of and building for the past couple of years.

Thousands and thousands of hours have gone into getting to this point. Everything was so thoughtfully designed. I am so excited to “move” into the next chapter of making the house our home by filling it with family and friends, delicious food, and beautiful music.

No moose were harmed in the making of this chandelier. 🫎 It was handmade by a guy on marketplace from sheds and I ❤️it!!! Oh myyyyyy I am dying seeing Conor’s office come together. The green plaster has me skipping a heartbeat.

Conor’s current job description: excavating for the final wall out front… and then coming inside to hold a rug on wall for me from the highest step of the ladder… shorter ladder, at least.

But THAT rug on THAT wall??? Yessssss. 🙌🏻

So glad he loves me. ❤️ counters coming tomorrow!!!

This was a fun labor of love. It originally belonged to Conor‘s grandma who bought it in Palm Springs from a movie star! I’m going to claim Lucille Ball because that just feels right. Or it could’ve been Judy Garland‘s 😜 then it hung in Conor‘s home growing up. And his sister still had it in the home and gave it to us for our home. They helped us take it down. The electrical needed to be repaired. We hand washed and polished every Crystal. We replaced missing crystals and put it back together. It is so beautiful. I love the history and the sparkle. Design is in the details and details take time. Spent the day aging chain for the Vintage chandeliers. Some belonged to my parents, some to Conor‘s parents some to his grandparents. I love items passed down from generation to generation. It creates a nostalgia that is impossible to duplicate. I am so excited to see these hung. Conor was busy excavating the front so the CMU wall can come in to retain the dirt and then we can pour a sidewalk! So fun to see all of the details coming together.

We broke ground one year ago on September 3! There is a lot going on this week; lights are being hung, tile continues, masons are bricking the playhouse, plumbing fixtures are being installed (we have a 🚽 and one 💡 in). Copper gutters are being installed. So fun to see the color and jewelry coming into the house. It’s starting to feel like home. I had a fun visit with the horses today. My dad always whistled like that to bring the horses to the fence. It’s so fun to get to know each of their personalities. They bring me so much joy.

I told Conor I feel like a senior in high school…and it’s spring… and I can see graduation around the corner... We are getting so close! So much progress. And the fun stuff is happening...tile, paint, stain, concrete, stone. Wood floors are coming soon. Cabinets are being built. Wallpaper and lighting will be installed soon. So fun to see the progress every day. We have the best builder in the world and amazing contractors. Conor is working super hard with our amazing friend Rob and Abe. They ran the pipes for radiant heat in the driveway. And Conor is working on fencing today. This is unquestionably the biggest project we will ever take on in our lives. And I’m loving it.
