We are a new student organization at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO)

We are a student-led production organization dedicated to producing creative works that are centered around culturally diverse artists. The core mission is to provide a safe, inclusive space where students can freely express their culture, heritage, and identity through artistic expression. Anyone can join the group no matter their color or major. We will start dues in the second semester. We’re figuring out how much that would help create the space that we need. We will soon be figuring out what board members we need and how we will go about elections and all that jazz. We want to make this space open for all artistic majors and everyone who loves the arts. We want art exhibits, dance shows, choruses, productions. Everything that helps express creative liberty. We are building from the ground up, but that is everything we have so far. If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to contact me, or even come up to me in the halls.

For Good - Wicked

We just finished our last performance together at SEMO, and it couldn’t have gone better. Also, the biggest shoutout to Nyghél Byrd, our voice teacher and accompanist for today. Thank you 💚🩷 by @bubbles.jay_

Waves rocked me to sleep, sunsets kissed my cheeks, and every port told a new story 🌅

last but not least, GIRLHOOD. i have so many words that are so hard to express about this show. this was my main stage debut and i couldn’t have asked for better people to work with. being the first to produce this show and to bring Jaya to life, it was hard. i felt a lot of insecurity being surrounded by so many talented people. but everyone believed in me. this show showed the nature of teenage girls growing up and the trials they go through. it was a beautiful story to tell and such an amazing craft.

then there’s merciful construction. my last show of the semester. a beautifully crafted work about “how rough the women in Shakespeare’s plays had it.” i had so much fun bringing Maggie to life. i see a lot of myself in her. her quirkiness and outright smart mouth. i learned a lot about myself through her.

wow, I finished my first year of college. I was lucky enough to never have a resting second and bringing to life so many shows. I was especially lucky enough to be apart of student written and directed work. first up are the short plays. this meant so much to me. so many creative and talented writers exist and it was amazing to perform these plays. i can’t wait to do more next semester.
