While I do this for fun, it has become a yoga research project.

I feel you need to be in the air to explore it. I personally don't feel the "air" element (vayu) of the yoga panchabhutas in my yoga poses (asana). Breathing practices (pranayama) easily feels like air, but physical yoga poses in this sense feel to me at best a container of air. I don't yet feel like "I am the air" when doing yoga poses "still on my mat".

My guess is that air has become displaced from contemporary yoga due to our reliance on the mat. Air may be better found in adjacent movement disciplines requiring suspension, like circus and gymnastics. I feel this has to do with "removing the floor". Mat-based yoga poses have a continuity of ground/floor. I feel the physical sensation of ground opposes my definition and physical sensation of air.

My first yoga questions in suspended movement forms might be then — how much can my body feel like the air surrounding it while held in the air? How much can I remove the floor? How much can my body feel to be flying?

In short, I'm learning how to feel like I'm flying. by @bucaphoto

The circus arrives without warning.
No announcements precede it.
It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.
Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements.
It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night... 🎪

Once upon a time, deep in the darkest ocean…

Two daughters of Nereus, sisters of the sea.
One wise and steady, the other mischievous, curious and ready for adventure.

When the younger sister ventures towards the light, her sister follows…

But beyond the surface, danger awaits. ✨

Our duet hoop act is one story within Myths and Misdeeds, a new show by Secret Circus. Come and watch us perform on Sunday 25th October.
