This weekend, we said goodbye to Barney 💙

Barney came into our lives 12 years ago, bringing with him so much joy, spunk, mischief, and friendship. He quickly became Buddy’s best friend, their days spent chasing each other and their nights spent cuddled up next to each other.

He loved coming along on our adventures, and he often struck out on his own secret missions around the neighborhood. His favorite adventures were his summer trips to Okoboji, where he would wait by the door each morning for Nana Jane to pick him up for a day of cuddles and classical music.

Barney was with us through tremendous changes, sending each of us off to college and beyond, always overjoyed to see us walk through the door for the holidays. He welcomed Boomer and Mango into our family, then Zain, Olivia, and Sofia, becoming lovingly known as “Baba.”

Later in his life, he loved going on errands with his dad and would wait patiently in the car. Dad always took the keys, afraid that Barney might try to drive away. But even if he could drive, we know he would never leave his dad.

He loved each of us equally and exceptionally, and we feel so lucky to have known and loved him.

And how happy Buddy and Barney must be to chase each other again 🐾💙🪽 by @buddyandbarney
