It’s satisfying to watch the years and months drop off as you continue to pay down your mortgage. In my opinion, it’s just as important to mitigate risk by paying down your mortgage as it is to invest aggressively in the stock market.

While I’ve had to pay extra for our mortgage while rates have been elevated, my cash flow has been starting to increase as rates have decreased.

Paying more for my mortgage taught me an important lesson: That I could manage my money better than I was; that there is always room for improvement.

The Bank of Canada will be making another interest rate decision on March 12th. I’m thinking they’ll hold rates, but if they do decide to cut, then we could see more savings coming our way. taken in Stratford, Ontario by @budgetteacher

I always enjoy getting our annual mortgage statement in the mail. I enjoy comparing the data year to year and watching the mortgage balance decrease. The goal is to be under 300k by the time we renew in September. 🤞🏼

When our rate climbed to 6.5% our weekly payments were as high has $640. As the bank of Canada has been lowering the overnight rate, our payments have slowly been dropping.

While the fluctuations in payments have been a nuisance, it’s forced us to pay more attention to our cash flow and budget more effectively. taken in Toronto Ontario Canada by @budgetteacher
