Better late than never

After 3 years of slow-cooking the bitterness out of it, I’m finally posting my graduation work. I’ve also just grown hungry during the wait.

𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑫𝒚𝒓𝒆: 𝑰𝒏 𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑫𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒓
A story about an urban hermit named Dyre. After doing his forest ecology studies he landed a job as an arborist in a Northern European city, thinking he could make a change for a greener future. Alas, the trees he once found endless inspiration in is turned to project numbers. Roots were covered by heavy, grey bricks.

Suffocating in this dense soil, Dyre begins digging himself out by resisting that which he suspects has broken him - his job and the city he lives and works in. Missing the feelings of his childhood he turns to play in order to find joy in his work.

A pseudo-scientific practice sprouts, and in time grows into an obsessision. Dyre builds a small hut in the forest, his workplace, to connect to it again.

The story is made up of photographs of Dyre, along with a collection of his own photographs, writings, experiements and objects.
The project was a part of my graduation at KABK in 2023. The work was exhibited inside Dyre’s hut.
