Hi! I’m Alexis Luttrell-Brown, and I am an artist and painter living my dreams in the Buffalo, NY area. I’ve gained some new followers over the course of the summer and I am overdue for a reintroduction - so here’s 5 things about myself that you may enjoy learning:

1) I am almost 40 years old and finally feel like I am living the life I was intended to live here on this Earth.
2) I am a fully trained NYS LCSW-R with EMDR and trauma treatment specialties that I no longer utilize in a formal practice.
3) I have been married for 14 years (this September) and we have 3 crazy and wild kids together.
4) I love traveling the world but haven’t traveled abroad since 2016. I am convinced I lived in Italy in a past life because when I travel there, it feels so much like home.
5) I am a total space nerd - catch me outside in the late evening hours or very early morning trying to see eclipses, shooting stars, a glimpse at the Milky Way, or the Aurora borealis.

What do we have in common?! Tell me 👇🏼, I wanna know!

Calling all coastal lovers ☎️🌊🐚⚓️

You’ve seen this painting on my Instagram before and I am now ready to release it into the world. I painted this sailboat piece en plein air last year at the Buffalo Outer Harbor. I am still ticked with how it turned out - and it definitely started driving my immense love for painting boats and all things seaside.

The painting measures 16” high x 20” wide as it has been painted as a landscape scene. It comes with painted edges to match (cheeky red) and is ready to hang with hanging wire attached to the backside.
Acrylic paint on a stretched canvas.
$545 + shipping

I planted this last year en plein air in an incredible field of sunflowers planted by my friend @new.heart.vintage which was a dream of mine to do 🌻 and this lovely lady is finally ready to find her new home.

Measuring 12” wide x 16” high - she comes ready to hang (NOT framed)
Acrylic paint on a stretched canvas.

Thursday evening I had the utmost pleasure attending the 25th annual pathways to success gala that celebrated @goodwillwny and the graduates of their career building program @goodskillswny as well as the achievements of their hardworking employees and their sponsors. There is always a really fun silent auction with amazing, wonderful goodies of all kinds and snacks, drinks, and an incredible sit down dinner. It’s an event I’ve come to look forward to and love attending each and every year ✨💫🤍

150 classes completed into my health journey at @barre3buffalo

Feeling so proud of myself for this new chapter, and learning it’s never too late to start - and to find a regimen you can commit to. Thankful to all the people at the barre who have made this possible for me, and to the studio itself - which truly is so unique and filled with some of the greatest people in Buffalo 🤍

Original art > Mass produced art because this often means we are supporting community over commodity. We are valuing connection over corporate nonsense. We are choosing intentional purchases instead of overconsumption.

It’s a totally different way of living life outside of the ways we’ve been trained to do so - an act of rebellion, if you will.

I am beyond lucky and got to spend my evening last night at @explore_canterra at their first ever art charity auction and art gallery opening at their Elmwood Avenue location in Buffalo, New York.

I met several local artists and new people - and have learned that some of the nicest individuals you could ever dream of - make up the team at @explore_canterra ☺️

Thank you to the @explore_canterra team who put this phenomenal event together and to everyone who came out to help make this event a success. Thank you to everyone who admired my art as well as those who purchased it. I’d love to give a special thank you to @rubyfarmsofficial / @rubyfarms.ny for sponsoring one of my paintings that was sold at auction last night. I am forever grateful that I was able to be a part of this very special event.

The art gallery is available for viewing and there is just so much good art hung there and for sale right now - so please make sure to head over to @explore_canterra and take a look at what our WNY community is capable of 🤍

Here’s a little look into the insides of my days - generally spent vacillating between mothering, carting around small children, spending time with my small family, squeezing in painting time whenever & where-ever I can, and lots of personal reading time spent after dark.

I also started a routine of working out at the barre through @barre3buffalo last year and I continue to work out several times a week. I make time for networking, attending local events whenever I can, and I work in the Elmwood Village on Friday evenings.

So, how do I do it all? Well it’s really fucking messy and non aesthetic and chaotic and my schedule is frequently very busy but I always think to myself, at least I AM doing something at all - even if it’s not the way I wanted it to look.

Just a little bit more of a behind the scenes of my life outside of the artist 🙂 - although that remains to be a primary part of my life.

I have a current addiction to @grillospickles (like omg, could eat an entire container in one sitting) and I love an ice cold coke. Don’t even bother to give me water without carbonation… gimme all the doggy wienies… and I’ve already finished those two books 🤭

What do we have in common?!
