My first ever album, Somebody of Water, is out now. I am so excited to finally share this project that I have been working on for 3 years.

I will be playing an extended set tonight at @the.woodbridge performing 8 of the 12 tracks on the album, some for the first time ever. I would love to see you there, I will be sharing the stage with the very talented musicians @charlotte_door and @missingwibaa.

I view a lot of my songs like time capsules, and this project feels like one especially. The album spans, thematically and in the recorded material, 3 years of my life. A number of tracks on the album belong to my teenage self, who almost feels like another person. But that adolescent voice is one I am incredibly grateful for because in it is the undercurrent of vulnerability and earnestness that runs through the album.

These songs would not be what they are without dozens of people. Every buglikeband member has played a part in influencing the final arrangments of these songs. I am endlessly grateful for my drummer, my dad, who picked back up playing when I started making music and has been offering endless support ever since. Every one of my friends and family that supported me and showed up for me over and over. Everyone who listens to my music, shares with me they connects to it, has made it feel worthwhile.

August and Worth It were recorded by myself @davenachmanoff and my dad. Who Else, which came out 2 years ago today (fun fact), was recorded by myself, @brandben7 and my dad. Every other song was produced by @el.woodbridge and recorded at @the.woodbridge. @nate.dumont.music on bass, @brandben7 on lead guitar, my dad on drums, and myself on vocals and rhythm guitar. The album was mixed and mastered and truly brought to life by @el.woodbridge.

Thank you to @public_transporttt aka @grandpa_lucienne22 for your work on the album art, ily.

To the people who have endured me writing songs about them, thank you. I appreciate your patience, trust, and belief in me. These songs wouldn’t exist without you.

hi. i am starting to get sappy. there have been so many people involved in making this album happen (inspiring, working, playing, listening, supporting). in the background of this video is a portion of the final track “round teeth” from my upcoming album. i wrote it about 2 years into working on it, frustrated with how long it was taking me to finish. at the end of the day, these songs are all about my life and are, to varying degrees, deeply personal. it took moving through grief to finish the album and it took finishing the album to move through grief. none of it would have happened without the people around me. there are so many more videos, moments, and people that didn’t make it into this one minute, i will be continuing to gush them all in great detail at a later date. thank you for coming on this journey with me for the past 3 years i love you.

hi so i have a single called “your father’s god” coming out on august 13th and the album comes out on the 20th what???!!!! im still freaking out, i have been working on this album for 3 years and it’ll be out so soon. if you haven’t already, go get tickets to my album release show on august 20th and presave the album, it helps with the internet math or something idk but it helps. scared and excited. i love you.

Hi. Bluff is out now! Only one more single until my album is out! only 15 days!

TONIGHT I will be preforming this song live for the first time ever at @wfnm at Hotel Ziggy. I will also be playing Did You Notice for the first time. Big night!

I wrote this song last summer so it is one of the most recently written songs that made it on the album. It is kinda special. It feels different from a lot of the music you have heard from me so far. I am happy with the way that it developed with the collaboration of @el.woodbridge @nate.dumont.music @brandben7 and buglikedad. Go give it a listen, personally my favorite part is the bridge.

last summer i made a little visual for a song i was working on. i did in fact cut out and order all of those letters by hand and then after all that i forgot because i didn’t like the video under it. but now you will all be hearing the final song which i am very proud of so here is a little bite of it for the time being :) presave links on my website!

Hi. This song is the only one I have ever (at least so far) been afraid to share with you. Honestly, when I wrote it in 2024, I intended to keep it to myself. But today it is officially released!

It is a response to an apology that I knew I wouldn’t get and wasn’t sure if I was owed. I had been holding on to a tangled mess of unprocessed grief, confusion, desire, anger, tenderness, and forgiveness for years. Writing this song helped me unravel it. I hope in sharing it I can let it go.

When I started recording my album I showed this song to Woodbridge during a solo session. His production helped me to transform this song into something that really matches the complexity of the feelings I was attempting to best capture when writing. The track is nice to listen to, pleasant to a point, but harder to look at straight on.

Both the song and the subject come back to this: sometimes the way we deliver words doesn’t match their meaning, and sometimes we don’t mean those words at all.

This is all a rambling, complicated, emotionally polluted way of saying that you guys voted for the first single to be “fun but lyrics are sad” and this song, I hope, delivers. I love you. ❤️ by @buglikehug
