SEASON FINALE

Sitting on the #copenhagen waterfront, @sortediamant The Black Diamond is the modern extension of the #royal Danish Library.
Designed by @shlarchitects and opened in 1999, its polished black granite exterior hides a completely different world inside: light, books, exhibitions, #music , people 💎 and a huge glass atrium opening towards the water.

In a world where information is everywhere, maybe the most valuable thing a library can protect isn’t knowledge at all.
It’s our curious minds. ✨

Thank you for joining us again this season 🇩🇰

We’re already on our way to the next city 🏙️🤫✈️
Wanna guess who’s our next guest? 🙏

• s02e05 • 🌵KAKTUS TOWERS🌵 •

For the 3rd time this Copenhagen season, we’re meeting a @big_builds creation: two rather prickly buildings that are impossible to ignore.

In fact, the Kaktus Towers are responsible for this season existing at all. The moment we saw them, we instantly knew Copenhagen had to be our second location.

The two towers rise up to 80 meters and contain 495 micro-living apartments. The small homes are only one side of the story: shared kitchens, lounges, workspaces and other communal areas were designed to move more of everyday life beyond the apartment, creating opportunities for strangers to become neighbours.

And those spikes? Each floor plate rotates as the towers rise, giving the apartments different perspectives over Copenhagen, and giving the city two silhouettes that open a conversation.

Enjoy the show! 🏙️🌵✨

• s02e04 • THE ROUND TOWER •

In the heart of Copenhagen stands a building that has spent almost 400 years encouraging people to look up.

Built to study the stars, the Round Tower has watched our understanding of the universe change, generation after generation, while reminding us that the more we discover - the more there is left to wonder about…
and sometimes moving forward means going in circles 🐎

Copenhagen continues to surprise with unique buildings and the unforgettable stories behind them.

@urbanrigger began with one father watching his son struggle to find affordable student housing in Copenhagen. Instead of accepting the problem, he looked at the city’s harbor and asked: “If we’re running out of land… why aren’t we using the water?”

The answer became a floating neighborhood built from recycled shipping containers - a temporary home for one of life’s most transformative chapters

The hardest part of transformation is knowing what not to change.

At the heart of Gemini Residence stand two former grain silos that once fed Copenhagen. Today, they feed it with homes.

But between those two chapters, the architects @mvrdv and @jjwarkitekter made one unusual decision: they left the heart of the building empty, allowing it to be filled with light, voices, and new memories, while reminding us that the past doesn’t have to disappear for the future to begin.

Get ready to hear double. 🏙️🏙️

• What if a power plant didn’t have to look or act like one?

For Season 2 : Copenhagen premiere episode, I sat down with CopenHill - one of the world’s most unexpected buildings, designed by @big_builds (@bjarkeingels Group).

Part waste-to-energy plant ⚡️
Part ski slope ⛷️
Part hiking trail 🏃🏼
Part climbing wall 🧗‍♀️

Who says that we have to choose between infrastructure and joy? Maybe the future is about asking better questions.

Welcome to Building Stories Season 2: Copenhagen! Enjoy the show 🏙️

#Building #Stories is officially going global!

Every season, we’ll visit a different city and convince its buildings to share their side of the story.

We’ll be back in #NYC soon.

In the meantime:
Which #city should meet next?
And which building absolutely deserves a microphone?

The most mysterious guest we could think of, was built to survive multiple catastrophes.
A massive, unapologetic, bunker - at plain sight downtown NYC.
Good luck getting answers from it. We tried.

• Episode ONE
This season, we’re out talking to the most iconic buildings in #nyc
Starting with the ONE
who’s made of TWO
and lives at Ground ZERO.
At 1776 feet tall, @one_wtc is carrying grief, freedom, hope, pressure, symbolism… and an octagon in the middle of all of it.
Its story is unforgettable, and we couldn’t have imagined a better opening for this series.
