Building a successful business can create income. But income alone doesn’t create wealth.

I’ve spent much of my career turning ideas into companies, and one lesson has stayed with me: vision is only the beginning.

You need capital. The right partners. Access to the right markets. And sometimes, you need to go where the opportunity is being created.

That’s one of the reasons I came to the Gulf.

Across the region, I’m seeing women building companies, investing, accessing capital, and stepping into a new era of economic power.

But the real shift is moving from earning to owning.

My days in Riyadh reinforced something I deeply believe:

Opportunity rarely arrives perfectly packaged. You build the relationships. You find the partners. You create the opportunity.

And if you believe your idea can change something, don’t wait for the door to open.

Go build it.

Women are earning more. Leading more. Building more.
 Now it’s time to own more.

At Women Shaping Wealth in Riyadh, I had the privilege of taking the Main Stage with Build Your Castle — a conversation about neuroscience, AI and why creating wealth starts with changing how we see ourselves.
Not only as earners.

As owners. Investors. Builders. Creators of value.

I also joined the DCO × Women Shaping Wealth High-Level Roundtable, chaired by Deemah AlYahya and moderated by Alaa Abudulaal, to explore how women’s digital participation can become real economic power.

And sharing this moment with the amazing women behind @getplaybook_ — Wafa, Shreya, Ismahan and Nada — made it even more special.

Your customers can become your investors. Here’s proof.

Most founders think there are only two ways to raise capital. Friends and family, or a VC firm. We took a third door.

We built TransparentBusiness in 2016 to solve one massive problem: work was still tied to a place. Work is something you do, not somewhere you go. Remote work, four years before the world was forced to try it.

Then the pandemic hit and it stopped being a perk. It became the thing that let women do the work they love and stay close to the people they love most. Talent has no gender. Opportunity does.

We became the first Latin American company to raise capital from the crowd. Not a handful of VCs in a boardroom. The people who believed in what we were building. And that company reached a billion dollar valuation.
