Today I built custom shaker drawer fronts.
Yes, lumber is expensive right now, but it’s better than buying cheap particleboard and today’s wood cost me exactly $60, which proves my point entirely.

We are on day 2 of building this entry table for my sister in law and it’s time to build drawers!

Building custom drawers used to make me sweat (okay, I’m still sweating but for different reasons). I used to ruin so much expensive wood.
My biggest cheat code now is to let the hardware dictate the measurements. Install the sides, the drawer sides, measure the gap, and cut the rest. It takes all the guesswork out of it.

I refused to let my sister in law spend a few thousand on filmy store bought furniture.

Her new house has zero drop zone so she asked me to build one.

The plan is 4 big drawers, open shelves for shoes and a real marble top. by @builtbybecdesigns

I took this basic flatpack cabinet and gave it a massive, custom glow up! A little tape, some paint, a custom wood base, and my absolute secret weapon for DIYs: my @bambulab_official X2D 3D printer.

People think 3D printing is just for gadgets, but I used my X2D printer for almost every step of this flip. It printed the structural brackets to attach the base, a foolproof jig so my hardware is perfectly straight, the internal organization bins, AND that antique gold candlestick holder. It’s basically a cheat code for custom furniture. 🛠️✨

The quotes for backyard projects right now are actually insane 😅 I refused to pay $5k+ for a basic pergola, so I figured out how to build this privacy one for under $400 instead.

I used pressure treated 4x4s for the frame to keep costs down and cedar for the slat wall. The bracket system made it so much easier, but highly recommend grabbing a friend for the crossbeams because hoisting those solo almost took me out lol.

Paint/Stain details: I used Real Milk Paint in the shade Arabian Night (it soaks into the wood fibers so it won’t ever chip or peel) and sealed the cedar with their Outdoor Defense oil.

I firmly believe every small space should have extra storage. 🛠️

My daughter has a tiny room and kept shoving her toys under the bed to avoid actually cleaning. I needed a way to hide the mess while giving her a dedicated place to play, so I built this 2 in 1 hidden pop out drawer! With custom dividers and Lego/Whiteboard play tops, it completely transformed her room without taking up a single inch of floor space.

Was I sweating when I swung the hammer? Absolutely. 😅 But getting all the skincare clutter off the counter was 100% worth it.
