Some days at work just beat you down.

The stress. The pressure. The difficult conversations. The feeling that no matter how hard you work, it’s never quite enough.

And then you come home.

The door opens. Your kids run to you. Your family smiles. Someone wraps their arms around you, and suddenly the weight of the day feels a little lighter.

Nothing about your workday changed. The problems are still there. Tomorrow may bring more of the same.

But your perspective changes.

You realize that the things you were so worried about all day are small compared to the blessings standing right in front of you.

Sometimes God doesn’t change your circumstances. He simply reminds you of what matters most.

James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

And sometimes those gifts aren’t promotions, accomplishments, or answered prayers at work.

Sometimes they’re little feet running toward you, laughter around the dinner table, and a family that loves you regardless of how your day went.

What a blessing it is to come home to a life that reminds you how good God has been.

Don’t let a hard day make you forget how blessed you are. ❤️

Humble leaders ask questions.

Jesus’ first recorded words in Scripture weren’t a command. They were a question.

“Why were you searching for me? Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
— Luke 2:49

There’s a leadership lesson here I don’t want to miss.

The higher we rise, the easier it becomes to believe our job is to have the answers.

But sometimes leadership looks like asking:

What do you think?
What am I missing?
Why do you see it that way?
What would you do?

Questions require humility. They acknowledge that wisdom may exist somewhere other than ourselves.

And they do something commands rarely do: they make other people think.

Jesus certainly gave instructions. But throughout the Gospels, He also asked questions—questions that caused people to examine what they believed, reconsider assumptions, and discover truth.

In the Margin:
Maybe great leadership isn’t having all the answers.

Maybe it’s having the humility to ask the question that helps someone else find one.

Ask more. Listen longer. Lead humbly.

Marriage gets hard when “us” becomes “me vs. you.”

Money has a way of exposing fear, control and insecurity. Talk. Listen. Pray. Make the plan together.

You’re not opponents. You’re one.

“The two will become one flesh.” — Ephesians 5:31

Collecting is fun.

Sports cards. Art. Memorabilia. Cars. Whatever your thing is—collecting gives us the thrill of the hunt, connects us with memories, and creates some incredible communities around shared passions.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the things we collect.

But there’s wisdom in remembering that what we treasure can slowly capture our hearts.

Jesus said:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
— Matthew 6:19–21

Enjoy the collection. Chase the rare card. Share the hobby with your kids and friends.

Just remember:

Own the collection.
Don’t let the collection own you. by @builtontheword_drivenbydata

Maybe joy isn’t something we chase.

Maybe it’s something we find when we give our lives away.

We attempt to apply God’s Word in every situation, and today as I was working on some investments I got to thinking about Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA). Even this is addressed in the Bible in my humble opinion! Investing isn’t about timing the perfect moment - it’s about faithfulness over time. “Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.” Proverbs 13:11. #biblical #investing by @builtontheword_drivenbydata
