q: whats the longest book title youve read? september, despite me reading fewer books, was super bookish!! we had our first proper bookstore event and it went literally ANAZINGLY, met so many cool people & recommended a ton of books to people. my booktube channel got to 3k subs, still beaming. then i also got to go to my first ever book festival?? and i got to ACTUALLY MEET 3 different 5 star authors?? and go to john greens tour??? wild. i may not have read as much but i had a blast! september seems to have been the month of long book titles for me, typing this out took like twice as long as usual 😂 i think my longest title by words is i feed her to the beast and the beast is me? anyways, wrap up! sept wrap up 1.stay for a spell by amy coombe - 3.25 ✨ 2.strange houses by uketsu - 3.25 ✨ 3.my grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry by fredrik backman - 4.25 ✨ 4.this kingdom will not kill me by ilona andrews - 3.5 ✨ 5.the ballad of songbirds and snakes by suzanne collins - 4✨ 6.the geomagician by jennifer mandula - 3.75 ✨ 7.blood rising by markus redmond - 3.75 ✨ 8.lisey’s story by stephen king - DNF 9.the strength of the few by james islington - reread 10.red seas under red skies by scott lynch - 3.75 ✨ hope your september was good! lmk what youre up to and reading! #bookstagram #bookreviews #readingwrapup #bookfestival #fallreading by @bujo.books
q: what genre has been giving you the best success rate this year so far? i think i might be deeming 2026 my year of horror wins bc despite me reading fewer horror than normal (lets fix that) ive had three absolute favorite horrors of all time this year!! bat eater, reformatory, and witchcraft for wayward girls are all in contention to be in my best books of the year. and they were all books i had incredibly high hopes for and met them! i think im really establishing my horror taste as horror as metaphor about real life horrors… my favorite. i actually just got to meet and ask kylie lee baker a question at a panel last weekend and i was very much starstruck. cant wait for japanese gothic by her and mazywood by Tananarive due, own both already!! #horrorreader #bookstagram #bookstagramnc #favoritebooks by @bujo.books
books you couldnt pay me to… way too late on this trend but better late than never right? i tried to pick different things and books that i read relatively recently when possible to keep things interesting :) lmk which of these you agree or disagree on!! #bookstagram #bookstagramnc #booksyoucouldntpaymeto #fantasyreader #sallyrooney by @bujo.books
q: whatre your thoughts on sprayed edges? here’s my sprayed edge potentially-hot take: - words? absolutely not. - solid color, matches the cover? - continuations of the cover? YES - intricate patterns? yes, but print quality must be 100% - metallic??? YES! - will i pay more for a sprayed edge? signs point to no anyways just wanted to show off some pretty purple books that went so well with my bridesmaid dress! hope your reading is going great, lmk what youre picking up lately! and of course happy earth wind and fire day by @bujo.books
q: how often do you give out 5 stars? i read on average 10-12 books a month, and in a month i usually give 0-2 5 stars (usually including rounding up from a 4.5). i’m not sure if that batting average is normal or if im stingy! but i do feel like if you read as much as i do you tend to be a bit pickier haha. luckily, this month was a two 5-star month, and both of them are SOLID, no 4.5s here! anyways here’s the wrap up! i haven’t filmed my wrap up for yt yet so if you have any qs youd like me to answer about these lmk :) 1.Walkable City by Jeff Speck - 5 ✨ 2.The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson - 4 ✨ 3.Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst - 4 ✨ 4.The Sea Eternal by Emery Robin - no rating, not recommending 5.Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonham-Young - 4 ✨ 6.Forest Euphoria by Patricia Ononiwu Kaishan - 3 ✨ 7.Taipei Story by R F Kuang - 3.5 ✨ 8.Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix - 5 ✨ 9.The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner - 3 ✨ and two i read in a vlog ive put below in case you dont want to get spoiled :) i tried to avoid half and quarter stars so as to not rank these because idk how to do that. anyways, please let me know if youre more or less stingy with 5 stars than i am! 10.Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey - 3 ✨ 11.Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner - 4 ✨ by @bujo.books
q: whats is a 2026 release that lived up to the hype, one that disappointed you, and one you cannot WAIT to get to? here’s just a few 2026 fantasy releases im super pumped for (that we bought for the bookstore!! ahh!!) red winter is a debut that involves werewolves in the french revolution era, this kingdom will not kill me is about someone who gets sucked into her favorite dark fantasy series and finds out she cant die, stay for a spell is about a princess who gets cursed to get stuck in a bookstore, and unicorn hunters is a magical take on anne of brittany. all SO exciting, stay for a spell bumped to the top of my tbr unprecedentedly fast and is now my cr! good so far! to answer my own q: lived up to my expectations: poet empress, no matter what disappointed me: the last contract of isako, ending writes itself, subtle art of folding space i want to read so bad: these!! plus trade of blood, hollywood ending, and probs so many more anyways lmk what youre up to k byeee #bookstagram #fantasybooks #cozyfantasy #fantasyreader #2026books by @bujo.books
q: have you read any of these? can you influence or de-influence me on them? the state of the tbr cart! i hate taking a picture of it bc to get it all in you get my weird carpet 😂😂 i have been making MASSIVE progress on my physical tbr this year. out of the 94 books i started the year with, i only have 59 of those exact books left if my numbers are up to date. of course ive added some but i still think ive been good! these are the books im trying to force myself to read soon or im crazy excited about. some of these have been on here for 4+ years… any ideas on what i should grab next? by @bujo.books
pantone zodiac book challenge! saw the birthday girl @forevermorepages do this and had to try my hand at it. i tried to focus on only books i really enjoyed but some 3 stars snuck in there. read any of these? feel free to consider yourself tagged in this challenge! #bookstagram #pantonezodiac #fantasyreader #bookstagramnc by @bujo.books
q: what was the best book you read in July? july went a little bit better than june for me but i did almost have a full crash out so maybe it evens out? i got sick but i also got to go on a fun trip for my sister’s birthday where we visited the rock & roll hall of fame and cedar point (went on the tallest coaster in the US!) and also read all of heated rivalry in a day which was nuts. lots of pics (mostly food) to share with y’all this time. regardless, while I had a ton of 3’s this month, my peak books were PEAK. 1. The Incandescent by Emily Tesh - 3ish stars 2. Shroud by Adrian Tchaikovsky - 3ish stars 3. The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong - 3.75 stars 4. Small Boat by Vincent Delacroix - 4.25 stars 5. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - reread! loved! 6. Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid - idk how to rate bc i watched it first <3 7. The Poet Empress by Shen Tao - 5 stars! 8. I, Medusa by Ayana Gray - 3.75 stars 9. Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors - 4.5? 5 stars 10. Vigil by George Saunders - 3.5 stars 11. The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne - 3ish stars 12. Perfect Victims by Mohammed El-Kurd - nonfic so not 100% on rating but hiiiiighly recommend 🇵🇸 anyways lmk what you thought about any of these and what your month was like, no matter how insignificant! by @bujo.books
