What is love? Love is showing everyone kindness. Love is wanting each and every child to have a safe upbringing. Love is knowing what your Neighbour needs and providing it before they ask. Love is being against anti-unhoused architecture. Love is showing up for your friends even when it inconveniences you. Love is taking care of yourself. Love is sharing your story and experiences. Love is being patient even with the most aggravating person you know. Love is building and upholding community and the values built within it. Love is acceptance and understanding of all our differences and unique experiences. Love is a warm embrace with no ulterior motives. To have love is to be at peace. When you’re at peace, elements of joy become clearer. It’s easier to smile and laugh. You are not alone on this earth. There are 8 billion of us. Each and every one of us deserves the right to peace, nutritious food, clean water, sturdy shelter, friends and/or family, love and a warm embrace.

Let’s do better together. Do your part, do what you can and please VOTE!

Someone’s got to hold it down in Far Rockaway 🤷‍♀️

My smile has changed over the years. Did you know there was a time where I never smiled…especially in photos. Then in middle school, I began to smile but like upside down. Not quite a frown but close to it. In college I learned to embrace my true smile with my teeth.

These days it’s a bit harder to smile…I think?
Only in my recent photos do I see my smile change a bit. More of a smirk? Still a smile from me so that’s a win!!

I’m a survivor, a warrior and a cutie patootie.

Twitter saw this first and gave it so much love.💕

These were taken by Photographer Rick Guidotti from @positiveexposure. It was a very meaningful and wonderful experience.

These were taken for the sole purpose of being a person who has Sickle Cell Disease! I am glad it came out in time for Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

My goal in life is always to be seen as me before the disease while acknowledging it may affect the way I show up.

I’m not always crying and in pain, sometimes I’m smiling quite hard, dancing, being silly and even a bit awkward. 😬 I love myself in every single way and every single moment.

Sickle cell is not a black disease but it does affect black people disproportionately.

Yes, it can be a struggle, but we’re surviving because we’re all #sicklecellwarriors !! 🤍 taken in Manhattan, New York by @bukolasmiles

Hi Everyone!

I got discharged from the hospital! Yay!!

Today is September first, the day Killua, Gon and the rest of the Hunters meet up in Yorknew city. IYKYK.

Today is also the first day of NATIONAL SICKLE CELL AWARENESS MONTH!

DR gave me a much needed break. Too much anxiety or worry can destroy everything you’ve been working on. Will def do this install again. Cuz wowzer!

Life update 2:
Another day, another post. For visibility and for awareness. Having #sicklecell disease does not mean I must hide, be stuck indoors or become invisible. That’s how I felt in college. So I did everything I could to be visible. Joined plenty of orgs, but failed to keep friends while there. The fear of death was keeping me alive. But now the joy of life, is allowing me to thrive. Peace be upon those who read and those who don’t. I write these words with sincerity and newfound clarity. It’s been a season of long nights, but as Psalms 30:5 says “Joy comes in the morning”. Or after the rain comes a rainbow.

I’m currently on Medical leave from work. FMLA ends in May. You’ve probs seen me posting a lot with more radiant photos/videos of myself. I put everything into my work and unfortunately ended up in the hospital again. Doctor recommended a year of recovery due to serious health injuries. It’s kinda hard to put it all into words without getting emotional. But I hope you see my content and see perseverance and the will to succeed. Love you all -Bukola

Not new to this, I’m true to this。

It’s been a while since I’ve done some solo dates and activities.

Sometimes things don’t work out, but that’s okay. The future is bright. Don’t give up! Grow up!

Now that I’m single and on FMLA, I happen to have…Lots of free time.

As my good friends OneRepublic are singing “This has gotta be the good life This could really be a good life, good life”.

It’s b so hard to listen to songs by Adele…home girl hit me right in the feels.
