I think this will be the summer of charcoal grilled skewers. Experimenting with Asian and Indian flavors on shrimp a few nights ago. The skrimps on the left I marinated with coconut milk, garam masala, garlic & ginger paste, Kashmiri chili, and a bit of turmeric. The skrimps on the right got soy sauce, Sichuan fermented chili bean paste, 5 spice, oyster sauce, peanut oil, and a bit of sesame oil. Both very yum, but the Chinese inspired skramp were the clear winners. 🤤 Maybe should have added a bit of sugar to the Indian inspired ones to balance the heat and savory? Learning how to crab on the Oregon Coast. Our friend Lucas did most of the work bc the traps we brought didn’t bring in much of anything. At the end of the day we cooked and picked them and then I made what I’ve dubbed “All Day Chowder” as we were out there literally all day. Can’t wait to go again. Every year I try to learn new self reliance techniques and foraging skills and crabbing is one I’ve been really looking forward to checking off my bucket list. So fun and so satisfying!!!
