Endless choices await at @golden.age_springvale in Springvale! 🥖✨

From crispy pork bánh mì loaded with fresh coriander, rich butter, and silky pâté (because let’s be real - if there’s no butter or pâté, you’re getting scammed), to pillowy bao buns filled with tender pork and a surprise quail egg - every bite is a delight.

And the Vietnamese Honeycomb Cake (aka Bánh Bò Nướng)? Fragrant, chewy, and irresistibly good... I nearly finished off the whole box! 🐝🍰

Proudly serving the community for over 40 years, everything here is made fresh daily with care - you can truly taste the tradition in every bite.

Thank you for the invite 🐷🐰

Dessert time at Oski Soufflé in Box Hill 🍵🥞✨

Oski takes inspiration from Japanese and Korean dessert culture, with everything from bingsu to those super jiggly, airy soufflé pancakes.

We tried:
🍠 Iced taro matcha
🍊 Grapefruit americano
🧋 Thai milk tea bingsu
🌰 Chestnut soufflé pancake
💚 Pistachio soufflé pancake

The soufflé pancakes were SOOOO delicious and was easily the highlight for me. Super light and fluffy, soft in the middle and, most importantly, not overly sweet - honestly ticks all the boxes!!

Loved both flavours, but the nuttiness of the pistachio and chestnut worked so well with the delicate pancake. Definitely the kind of dessert you can keep eating without it feeling too heavy.

Dinner at Dainty Sichuan in Toorak 🌶️🥢

A great spot for a family gathering, especially if you’re dining with a bigger group and want to order a few dishes to share and try a bit of everything.

We ordered:
🌶️ Mapo tofu
🍆 Crispy eggplant
🍚 Fried rice
🥩 Stir-fried beef
🫛 Stir-fried four season beans

The crispy eggplant was probably my favourite - crispy on the outside, soft in the middle and really flavourful. The mapo tofu was also good, with that familiar Sichuan spice and numbing kick.

The four season beans and beef were both solid dishes for sharing, and the fried rice went well with everything on the table.

Generous portions and plenty of variety, so definitely a good one for a family meal or group dinner where everyone can try a little bit of everything.

Korean comfort food and late-night Hongdae vibes 🇰🇷🥢

🤤 We had the Table-Cooked Spicy Pork Bulgogi and Octopus with added perilla leaves and sweet potato noodles, plus the Seafood Pancake and Crab Soft Tofu Stew. Safe to say we did not leave hungry 😂

Loved the tabletop cooking - there’s just something about having everything sizzling away in front of you that makes the meal even better. The spicy pork with the perilla leaves was such a good combo, and the soft tofu stew was exactly the kind of warm, comforting dish you want alongside it.

Generous portions, great value and a fun, casual Hongdae street-food vibe right in Melbourne. They’re also open until 1:30 AM, which makes this a dangerous one to know about for late-night Korean cravings 👀

Box Hill’s fresh beef hotpot spot is no longer a hidden gem - this place was absolutely PACKED when we visited 🔥

We headed to Cheng’s Beef Hotpot Restaurant inside Sky One Plaza, Box Hill to try their signature steamed beef hotpot, and it did not disappoint. Beef hotpot is their specialty, but there’s plenty more on the menu worth ordering.

What we had:
🥩 Steamed beef hotpot - the star of the show, seriously delicious
🍄 Assorted mushrooms and vegetables - perfect for soaking up all that flavour
🍢 Charcoal skewers (Beef and Lamb) with cumin - smoky, fragrant and so moreish
Seriously hungry? They’ve got an all-you-can-eat buffet option too, so come with an appetite!

📍 Cheng’s Beef Hotpot Restaurant (Cheng Fu Ji 程福记) G08/545 Station St, Box Hill (inside Sky One Plaza)
Open daily, 11:30am–3:30pm & 5:30pm–11:30pm

David's Hotpot on Latrobe Street just hit their 9 YEAR anniversary and we came to celebrate the only way we know how - hotpot, obviously 🔥🍲

We went with the seafood and malatang soup bases - both were amazing! The seafood broth was so rich and the malatang brought that proper mala kick 🌶

What we threw into the bubbling pot:
🍢 Coriander Beef Skewers - the coriander soak into the broth is elite
🥩 Marbled Beef - beautifully marbled and melts in seconds, don't overcook this one!
🥬 Assorted Fresh Vegetables - every good hotpot needs balance 😂
🍜 Handmade Noodles - freshly pulled and cooked right in front of you, you can taste the freshness, watch them disappear fast
...and many more! 👀

Pro tip: they've recently opened an EASTEA milk tea counter inside, and the Pu'er Milk Tea with the spicy mala soup is a match made in heaven 🧋🌶 The tea cuts right through the heat - my mouth is grateful.
Congrats on 9 years! 🎉

Malaysian comfort food at Little Claypot 🇲🇾🥢

Of course we had to try the claypot dishes - it’s what they’re known for and it’s literally in the name.

We had the Bak Kut Teh Pot, Fish Fillet Rice Noodle in Creamy Broth, Barbecue Pork & Wan Tan with Dry Egg Noodle, Claypot Yee Mee and curry fish balls. A proper spread of warm, comforting Malaysian flavours that doesn’t break the bank🤤

I’m trying to cut down on sugar at the moment, otherwise I definitely would’ve tried one of their drinks purely for the names - Lady Gaga, Black Pink or Michael Jackson 😂🕺🏻 Maybe next time!

First time trying an Asian meal kit and these genuinely tasted restaurant quality 🤤🥢

We made the Hainanese chicken rice and Vietnamese grilled pork chop cơm tấm from @ahhmaa.meals - both were so good!

Everything came pre-portioned with fresh ingredients, easy-to-follow recipes and their own in-house sauces. You still get the experience of cooking everything yourself, just without having to track down all the ingredients (or end up with 10 half-used bottles in the fridge 😂).

Such a great way to make some of my favourite Asian dishes at home while keeping the flavours authentic ❤️

@ahhmaa.meals delivers across Victoria and now Metro Sydney too!

Sunny day brunching at ONA in Brunswick ☀️☕️

Such a good spot to grab an outdoor table, soak up some vitamin D and settle in for a proper brunch. Look at that queue!

We ordered the citrus-cured salmon and Turkish eggs, and both were delicious 🤤 The Turkish eggs were the standout though - that saucy concoction with focaccia for dipping was just too good. And obviously, you can’t come to ONA and skip the coffee ☕️ We tried the Raspberry Candy and Gateway this time and I can’t wait to try the other drinks.

They’ve also got a huge retail range to browse, with plenty of beans, coffee powders and other goodies to take home 👀

A little Sunday matcha moment 🍵💚

I spent the afternoon at Matcha Lab’s Brewing Workshop at Heer Studio, and this was such a special hands-on experience.

We got to sample two different types of matcha, learn more about how they’re prepared, and then create our own specialty matcha drink from scratch (with chocolate, oreo and whipped cream). I loved how interactive and intimate the class felt, especially being able to make something ourselves rather than just watch a demonstration.

Already keen to come back and try some of their other classes too - pottery is definitely next on my list 🥹✨

Such a cute and relaxing way to spend an afternoon, especially if you’re a matcha lover or just looking for something a little different to do in Melbourne.

Everyone knows about the tom yum noodles at Dodee Paidang, but I feel like not everyone talks about how many other specialty dishes they have on the menu! 🇹🇭✨

We came here for Father’s Day dinner and tried the Song Wat Feast ($89 option), which included stir-fried morning glory, prawn spring rolls, deep-fried fish, tom yum soup, fried bread and rice - this was great value.

We also added on:
🥩 Crying Tiger
🍜 Tom Yum Noodles -obviously a must-have every time

Also, don’t make the same mistake I did on my first visit and order anything above level 1 spice unless you seriously know what you’re getting yourself into 😂 I genuinely died lol 🌶

What I love about Dodee is that beyond the dishes they’re already known for, there are so many Thai classics and lesser-known specialties to explore, and the prices are still really affordable!
