Hola and welcome to all of our new followers! I’m Javier, owner and principal designer of Burkle Creative. 👋🏼 A few quick details about me:

• I am a collector of experiences, trinkets, vintage portraits, turtle shells, coffee table books, friends, and shoes (so many shoes)
• I got my start with @ralphlauren and @neimanmarcus which you can see reflected through many of our designs
• I was born and raised in Mexico City but now call Dallas home and have projects across the US and Mexico
• I believe purpose and beauty can go hand-in-hand and treasure building a curated aesthetic for each of my clients

I was recently asked what I consider my greatest achievement in owning Burkle Creative. My answer was easy: when a client comes back and hires us again.

But being recognized by my peers might be right up there with it.

We’re honored to be named a finalist for the 37th Annual ARTS Awards. To be recognized by industry peers we respect, alongside colleagues whose work we admire, is something we don’t take lightly.

A big thank you to our team, our clients who trust us with their homes, and our collaborators who continuously help us bring the work to life.

With the 2026 @kbshowhouse Dallas designers officially announced, we’re reminiscing about our 2024 Sobremesa Lounge.

In Spanish culture, sobremesa is the time spent lingering at the table after a meal. Talking, sipping, and staying a little longer than planned.

That feeling became the starting point for our room, a reminder that the best spaces don’t just look beautiful. They make you feel something.

This summer marked America’s 250th anniversary, and Americana has rarely felt more relevant. Few have defined it as beautifully and enduringly as Ralph Lauren.

This week, Anne speaks with interior designer Javier Burkle, born in Mexico City and now based in Dallas. After working with Ralph Lauren, Javier founded Burkle Creative, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. A two-time featured designer at the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas, his work has been recognized by Architectural Digest, Veranda, ELLE Decor, Vogue and Homeworthy.

Javier is also known for throwing some of the most creative dinner parties around, complete with a very good tequila ranch water.✨

Together, they explore the layered, collected feeling of Ralph Lauren style, and how to bring it into our own homes through inherited pieces, patina, craftsmanship, unexpected modern touches, lighting, fabric and the art of a welcoming home bar.

Introducing The Orangerie. 🍃

I’m incredibly proud to be part of the @dallasmarket inaugural class of Design Ambassadors and to bring this little world to life through our vignette.

I’ve always treated my backyard as another room of my house. It’s where I entertain, where I unwind, and more often than not, where everyone ends up staying a little longer than planned.

The Orangerie grew from that idea. I wanted to blur the line between indoors and out and create a space that could be part garden room, part cocktail hour, and entirely meant to be enjoyed.

🌳 Pot orchids in the afternoon.
🌳 Pour a drink at five.
🌳 Invite everyone over for dinner.
🌳 Leave the doors open and see where the night goes.

“But does it match?”

It’s a question we hear often, and one we’d argue matters a lot less than whether it works.

In fact, we usually don’t want things to match too perfectly. A room gets much more interesting when something old sits next to something new, or a piece feels just unexpected enough to shake things up. The secret is making sure there’s still a connection somewhere, even if you can’t immediately put your finger on it.

So next time you’re wondering whether two pieces match, ask instead: Do they make each other more interesting?

If the answer is yes, you may have found your match. 🤝🏼
