If you're in Leslieville tonight - drop by Queen Books (Queen & Logan) for this book launch. by @burleyrobert

On Tuesday, November 3, from 6:30–8:30 pm at Queen Books, Toronto (914 Queen St East), join the McMichael for the book launch of 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳: 𝘈 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘤𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 — a new publication by Anishinaabe artist and scholar Bonnie Devine and gallery artist Robert Burley about their interdisciplinary project that traces the Toronto Carrying Place Trail through historical research, mapping, storytelling, watercolour and photography. by @burleyrobert

Published by the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, exploring the historic Carrying Place Trail and the ancient trade routes connecting the Great Lakes.
Four years in the making, this publication has been a wonderful collaboration with artist Bonnie Devine and McMichael curator Sarah Milroy. by @burleyrobert

Delighted to see my exhibition named by Arts-in-the-City as one of the top shows to see in Paris, as the Bicentennial of Photography begins its year-long celebration of the medium.

Especially meaningful to be featured alongside the extraordinary seascapes of 19th-century photographer Gustave Le Gray (at the d'Orsay), whose work has long been an inspiration for my own. by @burleyrobert

I never imagined my quiet images of the Great Lakes would collide with the nutty antics of Donald Trump.

Thank you, @_julienbordier_, for this thoughtful—and refreshingly rational—review of my exhibition and of the strange times we find ourselves living in.

An English translation of the review is available on my website. Link in bio. by @burleyrobert

Last day to see the Great Lakes exhibition @stephenbulgergallery - 5 lakes - 4 artists - Lake Ontario labels remain unchanged. by @burleyrobert

In response to Trump's executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario, Mark Carney has stated,
"The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America."
My current exhibition at @centreculturelcanadien incorporates the wonderful @biinaagami floor map, which celebrates the Great Lakes’ deep Indigenous history. All five Great Lakes bear names rooted in Indigenous languages and cultures—a reminder that these lakes have histories that long predate the borders and nations that surround them today. by @burleyrobert

As the Great Lakes exhibition enters its final week at @stephenbulgergallery, the Industry Minister, Melanie Joly, responded to Donald Trump's idea to rename Lake Ontario - Lake America. "We'll always call it Lake Ontario. Period" by @burleyrobert

Given that my book was released 14 years ago, I was surprised to discover it was recently reviewed by Leslie Lazenby on the Film Photography Podcast. The analog and digital worlds collide once again with Leslie's comment that the book is "an observation of our times". Thanks to the people of @filmphotographyproject for keeping our love of light-sensitive materials alive.
