DKA : diabetic keto acidosis is a dangerous condition that happens when the body doesn’t have enough insulin + starts burning fat for energy instead of sugar.

insulin : a hormone that helps move sugar from the bloodstream into the body’s cells so it can be used for energy.

f – fluids first 💧

most dka patients are extremely dehydrated because all that extra sugar causes them to pee out tons of water.

u – urine output 🚽

the kidneys are working overtime. monitoring urine output helps show if treatment is working.

c – check potassium ⚡

this is ati’s favorite trick. potassium may look okay at first, but once insulin is given, potassium can drop fast and cause serious heart problems.

k – keep insulin running 💉

after fluids are started + potassium is monitored, insulin helps move sugar into the cells + stops the body from making more ketones.

dka isn’t just a blood sugar problem 😕 it’s a dehydration problem,
it’s an electrolyte problem, + it’s an acid-base problem ‼️

the blood sugar is loud but the potassium is sneaky. don’t forget which one can stop the heart ♥️ 👀 by @burriittt

2. tea tree toner | refresh + balance

helps skin feel cleaner after cleansing

3. calendula face cream | hydrate + soothe

🧠 metacognitive - being able to think about your own thinking. it’s the ability to mentally step outside of yourself and observe how your mind works.

it’s recognizing your own patterns, questioning why you react the way you do, understanding what triggers certain emotions, and being able to recognize when your thinking isn’t helping you.

but here’s the difference.

• self-awareness is recognizing what you’re doing.

• metacognition is understanding how and why you’re thinking the way you do.

• self-regulation is taking that awareness and actually changing how you respond.

you can be completely aware of your own patterns and still repeat them. the real growth happens when you start using what you’ve learned about yourself to make conscious changes instead of operating on autopilot.

do the work.

💧 hydro drops: hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture and stay hydrated.

🌿 aloe: may help with digestive comfort and gut health, although research is limited.

⚡ recharge: replenishes electrolytes that help with hydration, muscle function and fluid balance.

💪 creatine: supports muscle strength, performance and recovery. and no, it’s not just for people who lift weights! 😂

🔥 l-carnitine: helps your body turn fat into usable energy. not a magic fat burner, but it does play a role in energy metabolism.
