Happy Halloween from Gimpy McMummy and Witchy McGhosty. Any donations must be in the form of your trick or treating candy and can be forwarded right to my belly. by @burtmakai
Celina didn't feel like bringing her tote back to camp today. So she shoved it in my hands and the doors. Meanwhile, I have to run around the city and go to the cardiologist for a stress test. So the question I have for you is, am I pulling it off? #girldad #anotherday by @burtmakai
We added two new members of the family. We'd like to meet Kernel "Pop-Pop" and Coconut "Coolatta" Macias. They are brothers and we love them so much. by @burtmakai
Thanks to all the incredible actors who shared their talents last night at our 2nd table reading of Craft Show! It’s so rewarding to hear your work read aloud by brilliant, hilarious actors and a privilege to get to be live in NYC and be a part of the theater community. Brett and I can’t wait to dive into the next round of rewrites and get ready for the next stage of development. Creating a new original musical comedy with a huge ensemble cast is no easy task but we are committed to birth this baby into the world! The show is a celebration of community and the power of taking your life into your own hands and making something out of it and that’s exactly what we are doing. by @burtmakai
Going to see Mimi and Grandpa. So excited to get there, so not excited to get through @jfk. Can't wait to see @candydravage @savtm @valerirubin @therealleehuff @dwntowngbrown by @burtmakai

It's the last 11:59. ⏰ Applications to WIP² close TONIGHT at 11:59PM PST. You've been working on your show. You've got something real. Don't let another season go by figuring out next steps alone. 18 weeks. Real feedback. Industry connections. A path to your next reading or workshop. You don't have to do it alone. → makaimusic.net #MusicalTheatre #NewMusical #WIP2 #MakaiMusic #sondheim by @burtmakai
The show isn't going to finish itself. WIP² gives you the structure, the accountability, and the room to finally move. Five days left to apply. Link in bio. by @burtmakai
This is how WIP² ends. ⤵️ Calling-card videos. Industry in the (virtual) room. Real conversation about your show and where it's going. The World-Wide Online Cohort culminates in a live digital salon — your work seen and heard by the people who matter, no matter where you are. Applications close March 2nd. This is how WIP² ends. ⤵️ Live performance. Broadway-credited singers. Industry in the room. A clear next step for your musical. The In-Person NYC Cohort culminates in a real industry showcase — not a classroom exercise. Your work, heard by the people who matter. Applications close March 2nd. I asked @newyorkmonk to join me on this journey because she is fearless, ferocious, and mama bear all in one. She understands where musical theatre needs to head and longs to hear new stories that have yet to be told on the stage. I also wanted to bring a true collaborator so we could model what good collaboration looks like — even in conflict. It's not about you. It's about the work. #makaimusic @nyu_tisch_gmtwp by @burtmakai
When I was designing WIP², I knew I needed co-facilitators who are actively in the trenches as writers and lovers of the musical theatre art form — not just talking about the craft, but moving it forward. @shoshanacreates is exactly that. Her perspective on the lyricist/librettist experience is going to be invaluable to our cohort. 10 days left to apply. #makaimusic @nyu_tisch_gmtwp @newyorkmonk by @burtmakai
