Este cuadro me tomó una eternidad 😅
Peleé con los acrílicos, cometí el error de usar pintura negra que mataba mis colores,
Redescubrí el negro cromático y la paleta húmeda…
y volví a aprender varias cosas a la mala.

Al final, este jaguar vigila quién entra con malas intenciones
y me recuerda proteger lo que importa.
Y la verdad es una buena manera de iniciar el 2026.

Tattoo 14 🖤

I’ve wanted this one for a long time. It comes from a song I love, but I gave the lyric a more personal meaning…so Depeche Mode fans, don’t get upset with me 😂 it’s just my own interpretation of something that means a lot in my life.

To me, it’s about realizing that the love I kept looking for outside of myself had actually been with me all along. The love I have for myself, the love I carry with me, and hopefully the love I’ll be able to give someone someday… if I ever fall in love again 😂

Also, fine line is way trickier than it looks. It takes so much precision and control, so give your fine-line artists the credit they deserve…especially @yugue.ttt , who absolutely killed this one 🤍

Lately I’ve been learning that sometimes a painting doesn’t need to be abandoned… it just needs a second pair of eyes.

Open Studio at MIFA has become a space where I can experiment, bring pieces I’m stuck on, exchange ideas with other artists, and get the little push I need to try something I was already thinking about.

This piece started with me fighting the background, questioning everything, testing gold leaf, adding more depth to the fur… and slowly finding a direction I actually love.

I’m still figuring out where realism ends and illustration begins in my work… or if I even need to choose.

For now, I’ll just keep painting until I figure out what the hell I’m doing 🤍

𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐳𝐚

Peruvian architect and visual artist Alejandra Bustinza is based in South Florida, where her practice explores the connection between human emotion, animal instinct, and the natural world. Working across a variety of media, Bustinza uses animals and the human figure to express emotional states including protection, vulnerability, anger, strength, and tenderness. Her current work centers on the idea of guardianship, portraying animals as symbolic figures that embody instinct, emotional tension, and protection.

Bustinza will be exhibiting alongside a diverse group of artists in GO FIGURE, the first figure drawing group show presented by Central Command. Bringing together artists with distinct approaches to the human form, the exhibition highlights the range of styles and interpretations that have emerged from Miami’s figure drawing community.

The group show also marks Central Command’s one-year anniversary, celebrating a year of programming and support for Miami’s creative community. The opening will feature a vinyl set by Louiedeology.

Came for the coffee. Left emotionally attached to a Porsche 356 Cabriolet. Had no choice but to draw it…

My dad’s in town, so obviously I had to take him to Motoring Archives. We’re both hopelessly obsessed with classic cars, and the second we spotted this Porsche 356 Cabriolet, we were sold. It only felt right to draw it.

Bonus: It’s also the perfect spot if you’re looking for a quiet afternoon to sketch, get some work done, or simply pretend you’re being productive while admiring classic cars ☕✏️🚗

My favorite sport? Starting a painting three days before the deadline😅
Sometimes, the best things really do happen at the last minute.

Whether this piece gets selected or not, I’m genuinely grateful I had the chance to create something that represents the place I’ve come to call my second home. South Florida has an incredible mix of wild beauty, from the Everglades to the ocean, and I wanted this painting to celebrate both that spirit and the Florida Panthers.

Three days before the deadline, I bought the canvas, gathered my supplies, and just went for it. Turns out, I really do my best work under pressure haha

Tsunami fue un perro rescatado del abandono y el maltrato. Hoy es un héroe de cuatro patas que dedica su vida a salvar personas atrapadas bajo los escombros, y esta será su última misión antes de retirarse.

Como alguien que también viene de una ciudad marcada por los terremotos, mi corazón está con Venezuela. 🤍🇻🇪

You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth 🐅

This piece began as a last-minute idea for an upcoming exhibition. It became the second chapter of a painting I had already completed, exploring the same story from a different perspective.

With a tight deadline and a technique I’m still learning to trust, there were plenty of moments when I thought I had ruined it.
