Every time this conversation comes up, someone says, “Not all men.”But safeguarding isn’t about assuming every man is dangerous. It’s about acknowledging where the overwhelming majority of s*xual violence against women and children comes from and putting the safety of the vulnerable first.Protecting women and children isn’t discrimination. It’s common sense risk management.If a policy or boundary reduces the opportunity for harm, why wouldn’t we support it? Women’s safety and children’s safety should never come second because we’re worried about hurting someone’s feelings.You don’t have to hate men to believe in safeguarding. THIS ISN’T AN ISOLATED CASE.Stop acting like these stories come out of nowhere. They don’t….Predators don’t walk around with a warning label on their forehead. They build trust. They get access. They hide in plain sight.I know not every parent has the option to stay home with their kids, and this post isn’t about shaming anyone. But if there are ways to reduce risk, why wouldn’t you?For me? No sleepovers. No blind trust. No “I’m sure it’ll be fine.” My children’s safety will always come before hurting someone’s feelings.Be called overprotective. Be called paranoid.
