Captain Smit Machchhar, the braveheart pilot of flydubai's Flight FZ1073, became an overnight hero after he averted a major midair tragedy following a brutal attack by his co-pilot inside the cockpit.

Machchhar, who hails from Mumbai and has previously worked for SpiceJet, saved the lives of over 170 people on board the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight despite sustaining serious stab wounds from the attack.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu and even US President Donald Trump lauded the pilot for showing his presence of mind and preventing a 9/11-like tragedy.

“The incident that occurred yesterday, Captain Smit of India demonstrated remarkable patience, presence of mind, and courage. Indeed, as the Prime Minister of Israel stated today, an Indian prevented a 9/11-type tragedy,” PM Modi said at an event in Delhi.

Earlier, Trump told reporters in Oval Office that despite being in a bad shape, Smit "had the sense to" prevent the incident from turning into a mass tragedy. He also described his co-pilot, a man of Omani origin, a "terr*rist". by @businessmavericks

Tata Group is one of India’s biggest business groups, but the interesting part is who actually owns it. With 31 companies across sectors and 26 publicly listed businesses, its ownership structure is unlike that of most large Indian conglomerates.

At the centre is Tata Sons, the principal investment holding company and promoter of the Tata companies. But Tata Sons itself is not simply owned by the Tata family as individuals.

Around 66% of Tata Sons is held by philanthropic Tata Trusts, which support areas including education, healthcare, livelihoods, and arts and culture.

The Mistry family holds around 18%, while the remaining stake is held by Tata companies and other shareholders. This makes the Tata ownership structure particularly distinctive among India’s major business groups.

Microsoft just launched its fourth India cloud region, India South Central in Hyderabad, and one detail is doing the talking: zero-water cooling.

Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, framed the launch as more than capacity expansion. His actual line: "We are not investing in infrastructure to keep up with demand. We are investing in India's ability to set the pace for the world."

The Hyderabad facility runs on three availability zones and uses air-cooled chillers instead of traditional water-based cooling, part of Microsoft's broader push to go water-positive globally by 2030. It's the first real capacity delivered against the company's $17.5 billion India investment announced in December 2025, on top of an earlier $3 billion commitment, putting Microsoft's total pledged India spend at $20.5 billion.

Early customers already signed on include Adani Group, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, and PB Pay, largely regulated, data-sensitive industries where infrastructure built for compliance matters as much as raw compute power.

India's public cloud spending is projected to hit $45.7 billion by 2030. Microsoft just made its clearest bet yet on being the infrastructure underneath that number.
