@filmschoolroadtrip ICELAND TESTIMONIAL - “Iceland was otherworldly. The landscapes will humble you with their scale. Driving along the south coast, you’ll see vast lava fields from past eruptions, waterfalls that will totally soak & drench you, geothermal pools, & fields of vibrant lupines. But my favorite moment came at Stokksnes - standing there at 9pm with the wind howling, grains of volcanic black sand stinging my eyes, while the midnight sun bathed the mountain in golden light. Photos don’t do it justice. You need to stand there, feel the wind whip your face, breathe the crisp air, & take it all in. How would I feel if I hadn’t gone? I don’t even want to imagine. I don’t usually get FOMO, but missing this would have been a huge loss. Truly one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. I was crazy enough to pack for a trip from Asia to Europe with just a day’s notice. Travel enriches you, but the people make the experience. I was incredibly lucky to be part of an amazing group. The energy was electric. There were quiet moments staring out at the landscapes and endless conversations. Though we came from different parts of the world, we connected & shared countless laughs. I’m still in touch with people from the workshop. That tells you everything. The workshop itself is completely interactive. You can ask Jon anything about film, cameras, the lab, even life advice. Nothing is off limits. Being curious makes the experience richer. I hadn’t enjoyed shooting this much in years. No assignments. No clients. No deadlines. Just pure photography. I had planned to bring my film cameras but couldn’t, between the visa stress & no time for test rolls. Thankfully, a legend in our group lent me two of hers. So take the leap. Try it for yourself. Worst case, you take some great photos. Best case? It rewires how you see the world. For me, it did both.” - @butchdomingo He came all the way from Hong Kong for this. þakklátur 2 months ago, I had to prepare to fly to iceland with basically a day's notice. life is crazy that way. I'm so glad I went because knowing that it was possible still fires me up. grateful to have experienced many an adventure with the fine folks at @filmschoolroadtrip. grateful to also have met locals during my time in reykjavík. almost another trip around the sun, and I realize I should go on more adventures to see where my comfort zone ends and growth begins 🌱 📷: @neptunebangdelphotography taken in Stokksnes by @butchdomingo

Home in Flúðir 🏠 This was our only early night, where we arrived at around 10:30pm. Usually we head back at around midnight, 1:00am or the epic drive back from Stokksnes, in which we were out from 7:00am until 4:00am the next day. The arctic terns were also out for the drone and they could possibly have taken it down if I flew a bit more. It's better to fly in the Highlands as most of the usual sites are off limits for flying cameras.
