Creating soft ombré isn’t super complicated, but it’s not just about “fewer passes.” It’s about 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 what the client has and 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙩. And it’s very much about 𝙝𝙤𝙬 you do those passes.

It’s about restraint. 𝙅𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 pigment.

Many clients will want a bold look, and many will want something more conservative. You don’t necessarily have to choose between doing one style or the other exclusively, but it helps to know how to lighten up. 🫶🏾

Who needs heavy layers of black pigment when a soft brown will heal beautifully in the skin? 😻✨

My goal for ombré brows is choosing the color that will create *just enough* contrast when healed.

This brown is actually a bit lighter than I’d normally go for, but my gorgeous client wanted something delicate and it works for her soooo well!

We loveee how her ombré brow turned out! So soft, so pretty, so clean & effortless. That’s a goal!

Things are crazy right now. When you come into my studio, I want you to get a little softness—not just for your brows, but for yourself.

I was not a math girlie growing up, but now it’s a critical part of my work as an ombré brow artist. And I actually left a “stable” career at 35 to earn a living from this.

No boss. No PTO requests. No balanced scorecards. Just drawing angles like I’m 15 in geometry class again. There’s a LOT more that goes into it, but if the geometry ain’t good, the business can suffer. 😬

It is surreal. Always remember—everyyything you learn can have a greater purpose if you let it! Few experiences are ever truly a waste. 🙏🏾

Most ombré brow appointments take around 90 minutes from consultation to wrap-up. The touch-up takes about half the time.

I plan for two hours in case the mapping or shading portions require more time, which typically happens with stark asymmetry or very active brow muscles.

But in less time than it takes to watch a movie, you can get years of soft definition in your brows. So worth it!

Let’s break down the differences between two popular brow techniques—microblading & ombré.

𝙼𝚒𝚌𝚛𝚘𝚋𝚕𝚊𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐
- Hairstroke look
- Manual blade cuts the skin
- Looks best on normal/dry skin
- Repeated cutting can lead to scar tissue
like makeup

- Makeup look
- Machine & needle places small dots (pixels) in skin
- Good for nearly all skin types
- Heals beautifully & fades over time when done properly

Perfect symmetry is not possible in the vast majority of cases—and it’s really doesn’t have to be the goal in the first place. I focus on creating a little more balance. I want the brows to look more similar without cutting off too much hair or shading on excess bare skin to force a new shape.

That’s truly the difference between brows that look natural vs. tattooed.

Life hit me hard before I began to find my stride. And it hasn’t let up. But stopping to be grateful for where I am & what I’ve learned along the way has kept me going.
