Founded by interior designer @cecebowman Buttonwood & Co. creates hand-painted lampshades in the tradition of the faux-finish. Decorative art techniques like marble, faux bois, and bone have covered walls and furniture for centuries, now brought onto a surface they’ve never inhabited.

We believe history should be carried forward, not replicated blindly, but stewarded into something fresh, enduring, and beautiful. We believe beauty deserves to be thoughtful, layered, and original, and that there is a chic way to wink.

Each shade is hand-painted, in limited production, with the natural variation only an artist’s hand can give. They are a finishing layer for designers and collectors who seek artistry in decor — rare, coveted, and worthy of the most visionary interiors.
