Why We Shouldn't "Plant" Our Relationships 🌱We often mistake stability for stagnation. In our quest for security, we tend to treat our most significant relationships as fixed assets—things that are "ours" and therefore secure. However, as I remind in my poemā€œDon't take this love for granted / As something you can keepā€, love is not a static object; it is a living organism. When we stop consciously nurturing a connection, we fall into the trap of habituation. Our brains are wired to pay less attention to things that are consistently present and predictable. We assume that because the "roots" are firm—because the commitment is there—the relationship will thrive on its own.Psychologically, this is where we begin to take love for granted. We stop the small, intentional acts of vulnerability because we feel "safe".I wanted to show the perspective of the idea: ā€œbranches take the leapā€.Just as a tree must extend its branches into the unknown to catch the sunlight, love requires us to constantly reach out of our comfort zones."Taking the leap" implies risk. It means being willing to change, to communicate new needs, and to show up differently as we evolve. You need the deep, grounded roots for safety, but without the dynamic, reaching branches, the growth stops.Relationships don't survive on the strength of their origin; they survive on the frequency of their renewal...My book Feelings Fragile through the link in Bio šŸ”— ..#feelingsfragile#modernpoetry#resilience#innerpeace#mentalhealth by @buz_lynch

"We are forbidden from the U-turn" ā†ŖļøOne of our greatest sources of chronic stress is the mental "U-turn"—the exhausting habit of looking backward, fueled by regret, nostalgia, or the desire to change things that are already set in stone. We replay old conversations, obsess over missed opportunities, and wish we could return to familiar territory. But psychology teaches us that the mind cannot thrive while living in a rearview mirror that is actively fading away. When life forces a transition—or as I state in my poem "The Long Exposure", when the "projector swaps the lens"— we often experience a period of static.ā¬…ļø Even if a past situation was painful or stagnant, it was familiar. The brain craves predictability because predictability equals safety.āž”ļø Moving forward introduces "new jagged lines on the map". These jagged lines represent cognitive friction—the mental effort required to learn a new routine, adapt to a loss, or rebuild an identity.Growth requires radical acceptance. Accepting that the road behind has dissolved isn't about forgetting your past; it is about recognizing that your past is no longer a livable environment. When we stop fighting the reality of the forward momentum, the static clears. We allow the projector to find its new focus, and we realize that the jagged lines ahead aren't just obstacles—they are the contours of our new horizons...My book Feelings Fragile through the link in Bio šŸ”— ..#lettinggo#personaldevelopment#therapeuticwriting#wordsofwisdom#feelingsfragile by @buz_lynch
