Buzz Women is inviting 60 business owners and experienced professionals to volunteer as mentors through the Buzz Vyapar Programme, supporting 600 rural women entrepreneurs.

As a mentor, you’ll offer practical guidance on pricing, financial record-keeping, reaching customers and everyday business challenges. Each mentor will support a group of 10 women through virtual group sessions and individual conversations.

Much of the work at Buzz Academy happens in the movement between thinking alone and thinking with others. An idea begins on paper, is tested in a small group, questioned in the room and returned to with a little more clarity.

During the second in-person workshop, the 11 fellows worked with Buzz’s approaches to financial literacy, entrepreneurship and confidence. But the task was never to carry a model unchanged from one place to another. Each fellow works within a different community and organisational context. What is useful has to be recognised, what does not fit has to be questioned, and what might work has to be adapted before it can be put into practice.

The drawings, notes, discussions and presentations in these photographs belong to that process: not learning a fixed set of answers, but working out what these ideas could mean in the places where each fellow works. by @buzzwomen

We are proud to share that Buzz Women has been selected as a 2026 eBay Foundation Global Give grantee and is one of four organisations featured in its global announcement.

Here’s what eBay Foundation shared about our work:

“Buzz Women works from the belief that every woman carries the strength and wisdom to change her own life, and with it, her family and community. The organization creates space for that change through transformative education and what it calls the power of sisterhood, delivered directly in the communities where women live.

When a Buzz Women mobile classroom arrives in a village, women can learn close to home. The nonprofit’s ‘schools on wheels’ offer practical training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, personal leadership, and community participation. Lessons are built around the barriers women often face when managing money, making household decisions, and building an income-generating small business.

The program continues after the classroom leaves. Each group elects an Anchor Woman, a peer leader who hosts monthly gatherings and keeps the group connected. This creates a village-led system for ongoing support rather than a one-time training delivered from the outside.

Since launching in 2012, Buzz Women has reached more than 900,000 women across nearly 22,000 communities around the world. It joins Global Give as a first-year grantee in 2026.”

A field visit gives our supporters the chance to meet the women, hear their stories and understand how their support is making a difference. During the OakNorth team’s recent visit, conversations with women entrepreneurs and community anchors moved from business ambitions to financial decisions and the reasons women choose to volunteer.

The Vyaparis, women entrepreneurs participating in Buzz Vyapar, spoke about starting and expanding businesses in an area where reduced rainfall has affected crops and earnings. One woman shared how she had moved from cutting circles from saree boxes for another vendor to making and selling finished paper plates herself. After attending Buzz Vyapar, and with encouragement from her husband, she invested in a cutting machine that made this possible.

The Gelathis, our community anchors, discussed how they choose where to borrow and compare weekly and annual interest. They knew what worked for them and could explain why. Asked what motivates them to volunteer, their response was simple: it is their community, and they have a responsibility to help solve its problems. Their neighbours now see them as people to turn to for solutions.

We are grateful to OakNorth for helping make this work possible and for taking the time to listen, learn and engage directly with the women driving change in their communities.

On 9 September, @buzzwomen's Afforestation Programme with Adhyan’s support brought together 60 Green Motivators from nearby villages at Someshwarapura Gram Panchayat, Mysuru, alongside representatives from the Horticulture Department, WomenCan Charitable Trust, local government, conservation experts and the media.

The programme highlighted the role of women as change agents in protecting biodiversity and nurturing local ecosystems. Green Motivators Sumithra and Savitha also shared their experiences from the five Green Programme modules and how these learnings have shaped their approach to nature conservation.

As part of the initiative, 2,000 saplings of mango, sapota, guava, lemon and butter fruit were distributed based on community needs. The Green Motivators pledged to nurture the saplings and ensure their survival, turning learning into meaningful action on the ground.

From learning to action, every sapling nurtured is a step towards a greener, more sustainable future.

At Emerging Leaders Foundation-Africa (ELF-Africa), we believe that investing in women's leadership is one of the most powerful ways to create resilient, enterprising, and future-ready communities.

Today, we proudly celebrate the graduation of Anchor Women Cohort 2 under the Buzz Women Programme.

Over the course of the programme, these remarkable women have strengthened their entrepreneurial capacity, enhanced their financial literacy, deepened their leadership skills, and built the confidence needed to drive change within their communities.

More than entrepreneurs, they are community mobilizers, mentors, and changemakers who are equipped to support other women, expand economic opportunities, and contribute to local development.

Buzz Green Module 5: “Namma Kasa, Namma Javabdari” (Our Waste, Our Responsibility) brought women across Bandipalya, Kadakola, Siddaramanahundi, Gudumadanahalli and Jayapura together to discuss responsible waste management and sustainable practices at the household and community level.

The initiative also included a Kitchen Garden Orientation at Nadanahalli, encouraging women to bring simple, environmentally conscious practices into their everyday lives. Participants who completed the Green training were awarded certificates, recognising their commitment to putting these learnings into action.

With @buzzwomen leading the engagement and Adhyan supporting this work, the initiative is helping turn awareness into action, building more sustainable households and communities, one step at a time.

Healthy soil lays the foundation for thriving communities.

Through Buzz Green's Green Module 3 – My Soil and Green Module 4 – Food and Biodiversity, women across Kadakola, Doddakanya, KM Hindi, Yadakola, Mosambayanahalli and Hosahundi came together to explore the vital link between soil health, biodiversity and nutritious food.

From learning practical techniques like composting, mulching and kitchen gardening to exchanging local knowledge and sustainable farming practices, each session empowered participants to take simple, everyday actions that nurture the land and strengthen food security.

The first Buzz Academy cohort came together for their first in-person module. Over three days, the fellows spent time engaging with the Buzz Women model, understanding the thinking behind the Academy, and sharing experiences from their own work across different geographies and communities. The module created space for conversations on leadership, grassroots change, gender justice, program design, and what it means to build work that is rooted in local realities. As the beginning of long term association, this gathering was also about building the relationships and peer learning space that will continue through the journey. The fellows bring with them years of experience across livelihoods, health, entrepreneurship, climate action, policy, and community development — and Buzz Academy creates a space for these experiences to inform, challenge, and strengthen one another.
