The Buena Vista Singletrack Coalition is a non-profit trail advocacy organization committed to collaborating with agencies, businesses, & locals in order to build, maintain, & steward sustainable trails for muscle-powered users. We promote responsible trail use in the greater Buena Vista, Colorado area.

We are comprised of an volunteer board of Chaffee County residents who are passionate about our trail system. We create trails, we educate users and we care for trails in the northern Chaffee County. The BVSC is looking for a volunteer board member with expertise in building and managing donor programs to help us strengthen our fundraising efforts and maximize our impact in the community.

This role is an opportunity to put your fundraising experience to work for the trails you love—from cultivating and stewarding donors to managing our donor database and developing compelling fundraising materials.

Thursday, October 1st is the Avery-Parsons Elementary annual Bike to School Day. Students and families can meet at the listed areas on the post at 7:00 a.m. for a guided ride to the BV Community Center. You can also ride/walk independently to the Community Center. The Buena Vista Optimist Club will serve breakfast, followed by a police escort to APES by the BVPD. What a fun way to kick off your day and learn your safe route to school! We hope to see you there!

A huge thank-you to everyone who showed up for National Public Lands Day! We had an awesome crew of volunteers and partners come together to put in some serious work revitalizing the River View Trail at Ruby Mountain Campground.

From moving dirt to improving the trail, every bit of effort makes a difference. Our trails don’t take care of themselves, and we’re grateful for the people who show up to make them better.

Join us Wednesday evening for some trail work - all skill levels welcome! Meet at the Midland Bicycle Trailhead at 5:30pm. We’ll bring all of the equipment needed and we plan to wrap up around dark. You can register for this event online - just click the link in our bio.

We will meet every Wednesday each week throughout the summer, so mark you calendars and come contribute to your local trails!

Good things happen when our local community comes together for trails. ❤️

We’re excited to see the continued collaboration between Deerhammer Distillery & Tasting Room and Eddyline Brewery in support of Buena Vista’s trail system.

Their Trail Forge collaboration has turned local beer into support for local trails—and it’s a pretty great example of what can happen when local businesses put their resources behind the places we all love to explore.

The Crank ’n Hammer trail was born from this partnership, with Trail Forge raising funds toward its creation. It’s one more reminder that our trails are a community effort, supported by volunteers, local businesses, land managers, and everyone who gets out there to hike, bike, run, and ride.

Shoutout to the BVHS sophomores!

As part of their Homecoming community service, these students spent some time at the Buena Vista River Park this week putting in the work to help care for our trails and riverfront.

They helped mitigate erosion, worked on the new surfboard rack at Pocket Wave with crusher fines and a retaining wall, and added crusher fines around a couple of benches. by @bvsingletrack

TRAILS FORECAST: 95% chance of hero dirt. 5% chance of puddles.

With a little moisture in the forecast, here’s your friendly reminder to help keep our trails in good shape:

💦 Go through puddles, not around them.
🥾🚲 Stay on the trail. Don’t widen the tread to avoid wet spots.
🚫 If mud is caking to your shoes or tires—or you’re leaving imprints in the trail—it’s time to turn around. Give the trails a little time to dry out.

Then get out there and enjoy that sweet fall weather! 🍂

Fall is in full swing here in Buena Vista and the days are really feeling shorter now that the equinox has passed.

We made great use of the hour or so of usable daylight that we had out on the Midland Trail on Wednesday evening to gather big and small rocks from around the work site into a stockpile near the side hit work area we started last week.

We shared some good laughs around the rock hammock carries and then walked out at dusk for a Little Daisy supplied beverage. Hauling all of those rocks made catching that last flare of the sunset just a bit sweeter. by @bvsingletrack
