It's not every day that we get to make a post that one of our own is making their pro debut, but this post is just that for Brett Caladie! Brett recently signed with the San Diego Orcas of Big League Wiffle Ball and is playing in his first tournament today in Chicago.

Brett has made connections over the years as he travels to various tournaments along the East Coast. He talked with Orcas captain Bryan Owens, whom he met through United Wiffle and was offered a spot on the team.

Big League Wiffle Ball has four big tournaments. Brett was unable to attend the first one in Arizona last month, today in Chicago, a third in Los Angeles, and the final one this season in Texas.

It's great to see a humble, local guy playing on the national stage! by @bwblnet

The 4th Annual Joe Pugh Sportsman of the Year is John Devers!

After some years away, John returned to the BWBL last season and brought his positive, kind, and friendly attitude with him. That continued this season with John being a prime example of our #1 rule - Fun. Whether winning or losing, John kept that fun spirit alive with both his teammates and opponents. The BWBL has benefited greatly from having John’s presences back at the field on Sundays!

He beat out the Ball Busters and Nick Wido for the award.

That concludes our awards for the 2026 season. Have a great off-season and we will see you all back on the field in May! taken in Diamond City Park by @bwblnet

The 2025 MVP is Brett Caladie of Snack Shack!

When you win the awards for being the league’s best hitter and best pitcher in the same season, it should come as no surprise that the MVP award will follow. That is the case for Brett Caladie who adds a 4th MVP trophy to his resume. At the plate Brett hit .602 with 19 HR and 61 RBI. All three of those marks were team highs while the HR and RBI totals were league best. His 19 HR were the 3rd most in a single season in league history. On the mound, Brett went 6-0 with 62 strikeouts and a 2.24 ERA. Brett was the only qualified pitcher in the league this season without a loss and his ERA was the lowest in the BWBL.
