Dear Kami, I hope you enjoyed your 17 years of life. I want you to know that you brought so much joy to this family, and especially to me. I’ve never experienced a loss this hard because you were my best friend.

I’ll miss you waking me up at 5:30 every morning to come snuggle in my bed. I’ll miss you scratching at my chair and barking at me for food. I’ll miss you lying on my chest while we slept on the couch. I’ll miss lying on the floor to pet you. I’ll miss calling you goofy goober. I’ll miss saying goodnight to you while you were on my parents’ bed. I’ll miss giving you belly rubs. I’ll miss holding you like a baby. I’ll even miss the random, nonstop licking you’d do.

The thing I think I’ll miss most is coming home and seeing how excited you were to see me.

I want you to know you were loved. Thank you for always being there for me, for bringing so much happiness into my life, and for being my best friend. I hope you know how much you meant to me and how much I’ll miss you.

I’m sorry to those who I misrepresented Christ to when I called myself a “Christian” but was truthfully lost and living for the world. I would find my satisfaction in my addictions and living for myself.
