Last week I attended the Haitian worship experience at Faith Center and they introduced a host by the name of @stichiz

Now let me be honest… I had never heard of Stichiz a day in my life 🤣 but immediately I said, “I like her. She’s a vibe.”

Then my friend @_ms.edline_ told me she’s on the radio and I was like ohhh cool. Fast forward to the award show where I was nominated, and imagine to my surprise when the host AGAIN was Stichiz. Before she left, I had to walk up to her and say, “Listen… I never heard of you before, but I like your vibe.” 😂

What made the moment even sweeter was discovering we had so much in common. We talked about us both being children’s book authors, and she officially became my first author book exchange. 📚✨

Her book is called You Are Beautiful and of course y’all already know mine is Mommy, What’s That Feeling?.

Now here’s the beautiful part: 🙌🏿We love the Lord 🙌🏿
✨ We’re both Haitians.🇭🇹
✨ We’re both authors.📚
✨ Her illustrator, Mika the Gifted, is Haitian.
✨ My illustrator, Belina Wright, is Haitian. @bwrightartpublishing @bwrightart
✨ And most importantly… we’re both a whole vibe. 🇭🇹😂

Now if I had a balloon for this unexpected author connection, she definitely would’ve gotten the number 1 balloon to celebrate the occasion 🤣🎈

As a Haitian-American artist, my work has always been about capturing the beauty of Haiti—bright colors, movement, culture, strength, and everyday moments that deserve to be celebrated. I paint faceless figures because I want people to see themselves in the story. Today feels incredibly personal in a way I don’t think I can fully put into words...⁠
⁠
Today is my Uncle Fortil’s birthday. And it feels so special, and so emotional, to be sharing this moment on a day that means so much to me and my family.⁠
⁠
“Mommy, What’s That Feeling?” is officially out in the world today 🩵✨🫶🏾🎉⁠
⁠
This children's book was born in some of my most tender moments… in the quiet spaces where grief shows up, in the questions we don’t always have answers to, and in the kind of love that doesn’t fade, even when someone isn’t physically here.⁠
⁠
My uncle meant so much to me. His presence, his love, and the memories we shared are something I carry with me every single day. And in many ways, this book is a reflection of that… a way of honoring him, while also creating something that can help children and families navigate emotions that can feel so big and so confusing.⁠
⁠
This story also became something bigger than just me. Belina and I came together through a shared understanding of what it means to feel deeply and to hold space for emotions that are hard to explain. She didn’t just illustrate this book… she understood it. And the way she brought these feelings to life is something I’ll always be grateful for. 🤍⁠
⁠
I wrote this for the little ones who are trying to understand feelings they can’t quite name yet. For the parents who want to support them, but don’t always know what to say. And for anyone who has ever loved deeply and is learning how to hold that love in a new way 🙌🏾⁠

More than anything, I just hope I made him proud. I hope this story carries even a small piece of the love he gave so freely.⁠

Today, my heart has one simple goal… to get 100 books into homes 🌸🏡📚⁠
