POSTS STORIES REELS

This is a snippet of an idea that came from hearing a viral jingle that I almost let slip through the cracks because it wasn’t going to be a polished video. I made two Tiktoks dances that went viral to the jingle & it still almost wasn’t good enough to execute one of my ideas to into a mock commerical. It didn’t feel as seamless as I wanted it to be but I pushed past old fears & created even though the budget wasn’t budgeting for it. The mock commercial actually came out great! Maybe Dr. Pepper would knock on my door later in life. I’ll be waiting.

Did you ever see my version of the @drpepper commercial that could have been a great refreshing commercial. This was actually my second version of a commercial. If you want to see what my

Before The Nerve... (Fun Facts)

• I’m a professional dancer but choreography has always been one of my first creative loves.
• My brain is constantly creating. Songs become visuals. Conversations become concepts. Random moments become choreography.
• I don’t like my food to touch! I’ve gotten better at it even though I still don’t like it.
• I laugh... a lot. (You’ll definitely see that here.) I love to joke in w comfortable environment.
• I genuinely love teaching kids. Watching someone discover confidence & “a pocket”in themselves is one of my favorite parts of why I love it.
• Some of my best ideas come when I’m supposed to be doing something completely different.
• I’m a recovering perfectionist who’s finally learning that sharing imperfect work is better than hiding great ideas. ( with proper guidelines. I am still a work in progress lol.)
• Faith grounds me. Creativity fuels me.
• I’ve taught dance for years since 14 I started in P.A.L
• I was creating long before I was sharing with up coming local artist, my cheer & dance teams.
• My Notes app and camera roll are overflowing with ideas some you’ll see as you continue to follow my journey
• I genuinely have no storage on all of my devices because I’m a content hoarder dealing with trauma of loosing so much footage in the past.

What’s one fun fact about you? 👇🏽

Welcome to The Nerve.
Over the years many have seen a part of my story, mainly my journey as a dancer & content creator. I’m stepping into something I’ve suppressed for a few years.
Here is where I begin sharing more of me in the creative aspect as with movement, as a choreographer stepping into a creative director, movement coach, teacher, artist developer, and more. This journey is more of a raw one.
You’ll see
The ideas.
The process.
The questions.
The experiments.
The concepts.
The movement.
The challenges.
The moments that almost stayed in my camera roll because I thought it wasn’t enough or I just decided to move on to the next thing.
I’m building this space for creativity in all its forms-finished, unfinished, expected and unexpected. As private as I am this is a scary step for me but I’m deciding to take the leap & share more of my gifts.
If you’ve ever waited for the “right time” it’s okay, you’ll figure it out when your time comes.
My time is now. Even when things aren’t fully flushed I’m ready to step into whatever this is & have God order my steps in the process.
I hope this reminds you to begin to start having the nerve to “something”. Let your creativity or passion start to speak life into you & others….. sincerely Shayna-Renee

I was recently in the Lab creating for a class. I love the vibe of it but I’m still figuring out what flow I want to keep, what textures I can change/enhance & see if i want to play with timing more… I love some street jazz. I’ll be back when I have time to revisit this and change some things around.

When i choreograph I enjoy letting the music feed the vibe of movement. You won’t always know what you will get from me, maybe an athletic combo, a in your bag vibe, maybe a mix of thrashy and bops. Although it’s a mix of things it still all feels like me and not like I’m trying to do “what other people are doing” even if I catch a similar vibe on something.

There are moments that remind you why you never stop believing.
In 2022, I was on @shakira new show “Dancing With Myself” and made it all the way to the finale . I didn’t take home first place, but I walked away with something I’ll never forget.
Shakira looked at me and said I could dance for her... or Beyoncé one day.
Yesterday, four years later, I danced with Shakira on one of the biggest stages in the world for the FIFA Halftime Show. @fifaworldcup !!

In the words of Shakira “Here in this space, you belong”!!!!

God has a way of writing stories that are bigger than the ones we could ever imagine for ourselves.
This wasn’t just another job. It was a reminder that no dream, no word spoken over your life, and no season of waiting is ever wasted.
In time it will reveal itself, you just have to continue to walk in the right direction and know you have favor on your life. To everyone who believed in me, encouraged me, hired me, and most importantly prayed for me, and helped make this moment possible thank you. Today, I’m simply choosing gratitude. And maybe... this is only the beginning.
Here’s to dancing with Shakira again someday.
And maybe next... Beyoncé like Shakira said. ☺️

To anyone chasing a dream that feels impossible: Keep showing up. Keep preparing. Keep believing. What’s meant for you will find you exactly when it’s supposed to…. as long as you PLANT THOSE SEEDS, do the work you need to do and do what makes sense. I will make another post later thanking everyone who was involved but for now shout out to Shakira and thank You, God & thank you @charmladonna for seeing me & believing in me. 💋

P.S really get into the lyrics of the song…🙌🏽

I wanted to have a good time sharing what was in my brain. I had a session with some cool people and it was a great time. Thank you guys for letting me put some choreography on you guys.
*If I were to do this for a show I would change up the choreography that’s more fit for a stage and keep some aspects of it.
* This specific routine was made to be a little more free with interpretation in most of it. Dancers had their own sauce with some of the movement and I wanted them to play with timing on some parts if they see fit!
* This choreography was made specifically for class vibes. I originally made it for my class at a studio I teach at and wanted to expand it a little more.
