Let's talk peptides for just a second. You may have heard influencers talk them up, encourage you to use them, and promote products that have them. But what are they? How do I know if something has them? What do they do?

Physical ≠ automatically bad. Scrubs have been demonized online. Particle shape, pressure, frequency, formulation, and skin condition matter.

Chemical ≠ automatically gentle. An acid can irritate skin just as easily—or more easily—when concentration, pH, frequency, or product combination isn't appropriate. Not all chemical exfoliants do the same thing. AHAs such as glycolic/lactic acid and BHAs such as salicylic acid have different properties and uses. PHAs are worth mentioning too.

Your skin already exfoliates itself. Exfoliation products modify/help that process; they're not performing a function your skin otherwise couldn't do.

Over-exfoliation deserves attention. Someone using an acid toner, retinoid, acne treatment, exfoliating cleanser, and scrub may not realize how much irritation they're creating.

“How often?” doesn't have one universal answer. Product strength, formulation, skin tolerance, other actives, and the reason for exfoliating all matter.

Testing a new peptide product and so far I'm loving it, especially as part of my morning routine. Peptide Cream is currently part of the collection and does an amazing job at hydrating the skin. But, understandably, we want to layer on a different moisturizer and doubling up the moisturizers sometimes makes the skin feel a bit greasy.

The Peptide Serum is a great alternative! It's light and preps the skin well for additional products or moisturizers if that something you need for the day. It smells nice, spreads well, and so far, I am considering it as the next product.

Next step is product testing by my trusted circle of estheticians 🧡
