the anatomy of a sugar flower cake for a fall wedding

i love packing 2-tiered cakes with sugar flowers that almost totally hide the cake beneath! by @bycenza

Sugar flowers transformed into classic & fresh blooms for a beautiful couple. The hints of lavender tie it all together perfectly✨

Happy Halloween!!

One final spooky cake to end the season 🕷️🖤👁️🕸️

Had so much fun making these eyeball sugar flowers, dead blooms, and branches! All piped in royal icing with a solid chocolate (anatomically correct) skull topper. Until next year … 👻 by @bycenza

Halloween Eve has arrived… and so too has some more spooky cake inspo!

This cake had it all: sleek black fondant, drapes, incredible sugar flowers (to match @nppdesigns design), and drippy candles! When they were lit, this cake had the perfect vibe (and only a few sugar flowers were harmed)

a little peek behind the curtain: for this cake, I purchased drip-less candles but cut them to be the perfect length so they look like they’ve been burning for hours. And then I used royal icing to create the drips. This also prevents the candles from ever coming into contact with the cake!

Keeping the Halloween vibes alive with this black wedding cake featuring monochrome anthurium and fern…and a hint of white dried amaranthus for a little color, ya know? 👻

for Sarah + Frank 🖤

p.s. the white amaranth was also made from sugar + white chocolate. one of my absolute faves to experiment making!

It was so fun crafting this sugar flower arrangement compote for this wedding “cake topper” — bonus, it doubles as a decor piece after the wedding! I see many more in my future.

With vintage-inspired moulding details, dahlias, and a beautiful soft fall color palette, this cake was a timeless masterpiece.

It was a very special someone’s birthday so Katherine & Dakota wanted to take a pause from the wedding events. They brought out this mini cake and everyone sang happy birthday to Grammy Buller! Such a special way to celebrate the matriarch of your family 🥹🤍

The perfect cake for a summer wedding, blossoming (pun intended) with pink, orange, and peach hues, and lots of vines, of course 🌿
