That question used to make me uncomfortable as hell.

“So... how's your page going?”

I'd smile and say something like...

“Yeah, I'm working on it.” 🙂

Then I'd change the subject.

Because what was I supposed to say?

I'd been spending hours creating content after work...

learning new things...

rewriting captions...

trying to make every post better.

And I still didn't have the results I wanted. 💀

The hardest part was going home afterward and thinking about the question all over again.

Maybe people thought I'd give up.

Maybe I was wasting my time.

Maybe I wasn't good enough to make this work.

And after 11 months of trying, those thoughts were getting harder to ignore. 🥹

But something made me look at my situation differently...

I realized I couldn't keep judging every month by how hard I'd worked.

I needed to understand what my content was actually helping people do.

That question led me to change how I approached my posts...

then read the whole thing five more times. 💀

Sometimes I'd spend 40 minutes trying to make one post sound perfect.

I wish I could say I knew what I was doing from the beginning...

but nope. 💀

For 11 months, I'd create content after work...

try different hooks...

rewrite captions...

and keep checking my phone to see if anyone had responded.

Some posts got a few likes.

Some barely got noticed.

And I'd sit there trying to figure out what I was missing. 😮‍💨

I thought I needed to keep doing more.

More posts.

More tips.

More changes.

But I wasn't stopping long enough to understand why people might connect with one post and ignore another.

Then I started looking at my content differently...

And I noticed a pattern I had been overlooking. 👀

It wasn't just about what information I shared.

I'd post a reel...

then open another creator's page.

Their views were higher.

Their comments were better.

Their content looked so much more polished.

And suddenly, my own post looked embarrassing to me. 💀

So I'd start changing things.

Maybe I needed their style.

Maybe I needed better editing.

Maybe I needed to sound more professional.

I'd rewrite my captions until they barely sounded like something I'd actually say out loud. 😭

Then I'd post again...

and still wonder why people weren't responding.

The annoying part?

I was spending more time studying what other creators were doing than thinking about the person I wanted my content to help.

And then I noticed something that made me look at my own page differently... 👀

I could explain digital marketing tips...

but I wasn't explaining what it felt like to struggle through them as a beginner.

I kept trying to look like someone worth listening to.

Every month started with the same promise...

“This month, I'm finally going to make this work.”

I'd finish my 9 to 5.

Come home.

Open Instagram.

Make another reel.

Try another hook.

Rewrite another caption.

And tell myself I was getting closer. 😮‍💨

Then the month would end...

and I'd still be looking at 0 sales.

0 leads.

And a whole lot of questions. 💀

The part that hurt?

I'd put so much time into this that I didn't even know how to explain why nothing was happening.

I'd think...

“Maybe I need to post more.”

“Maybe my content isn't good enough.”

“Maybe I'm just not cut out for this.”

But I noticed something about the way I was spending my time... 👀

I used to think every post needed to prove that I knew what I was doing...

So I'd pack captions with information.

Tips.

Strategies.

Big explanations.

Basically...

I'd write like a digital marketing textbook had possessed me 💀

And then I'd wonder why people weren't commenting.

Nobody was asking questions.

Nobody was starting conversations.

Nobody was DMing.

And I kept thinking...

“Maybe I need to teach MORE.” 😭

But I eventually noticed something that made me uncomfortable...

The posts where I shared what I was ACTUALLY struggling with were creating more conversations than the posts where I tried to sound like an expert.
