I believe an introduction post is long overdue...

Hello!

I'm Harriet Chunu-McClatchey, but you can call me Harriee.
I am a wife, friend, sister, British Nigerian, daughter of a King, and a believer in Jesus Christ.

My journey has been about restoring my identity, self-worth, and embracing the things I once rejected.

• Award-Winning Style Coach™ and founder of @radiantstyling, a wardrobe and image consultancy where I support leaders and private clients to move through life and their next level with greater clarity, confidence and intention.

• My background is in Luxury Retail, Hospitality and Service. I worked for Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Moncler menswear and Monica Vinader. I also provided white-glove table service at private receptions and high-end functions, where every detail was paramount.

• Fashion Designer of @harrieethelabel a talent and dream that started with paper dolls and sketching collections, finally materialised in 2022, when I launched my first collection and designed my wedding dress.

• I grew up athletic, playing tennis and running 100m, 200m, hurdles and relay.

• Never thought I was a writer but ended up self-publishing a devotional journal called Refined in September 2020.

Other than being a multi-passionate creative, I am also a lover of dancing, sweet treats, reading, watching real estate and cooking shows.

You can look forward to content around:
• Faith, Style, Elegance & Refinement
• Building a business(es)
• Personal development

My heart is to remind women of their worth so they can shine and take up their space with style and substance. And most importantly, for everything I do to give glory to God. Because without Him, I wouldn't be who I am or have what I have as my gifts.

If you have been here for a while, through all of my iterations, thank you.
If you are new, welcome, I'm grateful that you're here. 💜 by @byharriee

I nearly didn't post this...

But I pushed through, remembering that the mission is much bigger than myself.

The mission to break women free from wearing the mask of fashion but falling apart on the inside.

Seeing the @dior cage dress reminded me of this.

Psalm 139 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Because I love a good Hebrew translation, the word "fearful", means "great reverence".

In other words, there's this great reverence, awesomeness and splendor to how we were made.

When she knows who and whose she is, she can serve in her mission with greater peace.

DM me to connect or click the link in my bio.

I'd love to help 💜

1. Have good posture. A good posture makes anything elegant

2. Move slowly. Elegance is projected through posture, pace and presence

3. Speak slower. People naturally pay more attention when you sound calm and unhurried

4. Embrace being still. Fidgeting, touching your hair can be seen as distractions ad a sign of discomfort. Stillness communicates confidence. Take up your space, listen and sit comfortably.

5. Make eye contact when you speak. Hold the gaze and finish your thought. It shows that you value the person in front of you.

6. Know when to end the conversation. Instead of lingering, simply state that "It was lovely seeing you - I am going to say hello to a few more people."

7. Speak with grace. Speak to yourself with gentleness and affirm your worth daily

8. Practice poised responses. Respond with calm and thoughtfulness, not impluse by @byharriee

Proportions are more significant than you realise, and not just when it comes to clothes.

Take handbags.

A small or mini bag that looks perfectly proportioned on a slim, 5'5" model can look lost against the frame of a curvier 5'8" woman.

The same principle applies in reverse.

A large, oversized bag that works beautifully on a curvier 5'8" woman may overwhelm someone with a smaller or more petite frame.

Instead of purchasing a handbag simply because it looks beautiful on the website or on the model, consider where the scale and size work on you.

Your height, proportions, frame, colouring and overall visual presence all influence how something reads on *you*.

The same principle applies to clothing, jewellery, shoes, prints and even details such as buttons and hardware.

Your wardrobe and personal style is personal for a reason.

What works beautifully on one person needs a completely different scale, proportion or styling approach on another. by @byharriee

The elegant, poised, sophisticated side of me... my articulation, elocution and deportment has been referenced to me several times over the years.

People would often tell me they never believed I was from South East London because of the way I spoke.

What they didn’t know was that, for me, so much of it was armour.

It was part of how I learned to embody confidence, walk into rooms where I might be the only one of my kind, the only woman, "work" the room and still feel comfortable in my own skin.

My style.
My poise.
The way I speak.
The way I carry myself.
The way I enter a room.

Over time, I began to realise that what I had initially developed as armour had become part of my toolbox.

What I do is about equipping you with the tools to walk into any room ready, in style and poise.

Because it is one thing to know what to wear.

It is another to know how to be in rooms you never thought you would be in, with people you have never met before. by @byharriee

During a recent Refinement Day with a client outside of London.

We covered everything from jumpers, the right jean, the best length coat, colour of blouses, best weight jewellery for her face and frame (she is petite) and alternatives to ballerina shoes.

Then we moved to...

→ How to sit down gracefully in a skirt.
→ How to enter and exit conversations gracefully.
→ How to navigate certain social and professional situations with confidence and ease.

She left with her own playbook, so she can apply the same principles whether she is at a professional event, a client dinner, a social gathering or somewhere entirely new. by @byharriee

Gal Godot's Wonder Woman (originally created by an American Psychologist) was made to be assertive and strong while also being sensitive and kind.

Being feminine doesn’t mean being weak. Being feminine doesn’t make you any less worthy. Nor is it solely pink and frills.

It can look like the cut of a dress, dainty jewellery, or choosing burgundy or emerald instead of black.

Noticing how you exhale before you speak, approaching disagreements with gentleness or responding with firmness yet sensitivity.

It is influence without pressure, observing before speaking and shifting outcomes through clarity and presence.

Femininity is attentive yet gentle, direct yet humble, confident yet aware, and independently dependent.

It's knowing your worth and moving through the world with quiet confidence.

Femininity is not something to soften or set aside.

Elegance and femininity is power wrapped in softness. by @byharriee

My husband and I decided to wear matching outfits for our 4 year wedding anniversary.

We received so many lovely compliments.

From the man who walked up to us while we waited at the bus stop, to an English couple at the ice cream shop who had been married for 30 years, to a lovely lady who complimented us after we saw the shipwreck.

But there were also a lot of stares.

If I'm honest, they made me uncomfortable.

I knew this was an uncommon choice. A bold and audacious one, when everyone else was wearing simple tank tops and shorts.

Yet I found myself being humbled.

Because I could put myself in my clients' shoes.

The stares. The whispers to a friend, followed by another glance in your direction.

That moment when you realise what you're wearing is really that different from what people are accustomed to seeing.

And that little voice asking:

“What are people going to think?”

I get it. I really do.

Because even I am not immune to it.

No one tells you what awaits you when you step outside of the ordinary to audaciously and authentically express yourself through style.

Confidence doesn't come before you step out.

It comes when you choose to step out and allow yourself to enjoy it.

We will never know exactly why they stared. So instead of spending time wondering, let's choose to seize the moment and dare to glow.

But I found that when I did this, suddenly, what other people thought — or how many stares I was getting became much less important.

Let your light shine so that you might be seen as bright lights in a world of darkness. — Matthew 5:16 & Philippians 2:15 AMP. by @byharriee

We mistake consistency for sameness.

We put ourselves in boxes all the time.
We get accustomed to one title and question someone who is multi-hyphenate or switches career paths.

We assume we need to choose one thing, one identity, one way of being.

Our wardrobes can become the same.

We find a formula that works and stick to it because it feels consistent.
And when you've worked hard to build credibility, you don't want to risk looking inconsistent, unprofessional or like you're not quite sure who you are.

But consistency doesn't mean sameness.
And range isn't the same as inconsistency.

You don't have to dress the same way every day to have a recognisable personal style.

Your style can have range while your standards remain consistent.

Some days, I intentionally dress for authority, especially when I am delivering a workshop.

Other times, I want effortless elegance because I need ease, clarity and room to think.

Sometimes, I choose softness because I am having a difficult conversation and want to communicate empathy and approachability.

They are different expressions of the same person, chosen intentionally for the moment.

Your wardrobe can support that range without compromising the consistency you've worked so hard to build. by @byharriee
