Yoga for Hypermobility & Associated Conditions: On-Demand Training: Enrol now to receive access to a live community session with me on 26th May! Whether you’re hypermobile and looking for ways to practice more safely, or you’re a Yoga teacher, fitness/Pilates instructor, or movement therapist wanting to better support your students, this training is for you. You’ll learn: * The unique needs of people living with symptomatic hypermobility (such as hEDS and HSD) and why these needs must be taken into consideration for Yoga and exercise. * An overview of hEDS, HSD & common co-occurring conditions (especially helpful if you’re new to having a diagnosis or suspect you have hEDS/HSD. And ideal for Yoga teachers/ movement instructors, this is the kind of info I wish was on every single YTTC!) * Practical Yoga adaptations to reduce injury risk. * How to integrate accessible, trauma-informed practices for yourself (if you’re hypermobile) or/and your clients (if you’re taking this as a professional). This training bridges lived experience with evidence-based methods, giving you real tools to create supportive, more inclusive movement spaces. 🖥 On-demand & self paced, watch anytime 🎟 Discounted price throughout May for EDS Awareness Month PLUS Access to any of my future live community sessions with a shared practice and Q&As (Including my upcoming session on 26th May) For more information and to book on go to my link in bio or visit www.jasminesara.co.uk/hypermobility-workshops #hypermobility #hypermobilityspectrumdisorder #edsawarenessmonth #accessibleyoga #yogatraining by @byjasminesara
Yoga teachers: chances are you have hypermobile people in your classes. Hypermobility is common but the problem is, most Yoga teacher trainings do not teach how to adapt movement practices safely & accessibly for hypermobile bodies. Most never mention Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD). As someone with hypermobile EDS myself, I know how misunderstood hypermobility can be within both healthcare and the wellness industry. Before I knew how to adapt my own Yoga practice, I experienced multiple yoga related injuries from being pushed deeper into postures that weren’t suitable for my body. That’s one of many reasons why I created my online training: Yoga for Hypermobility & Associated Conditions. This training is for: 🪷Yoga teachers wanting to better support hypermobile students 🪷 Hypermobile folk wanting to understand their own body & adapt their practice 🪷 Movement teachers wanting to create more accessible, inclusive spaces! Inside the training we explore things like: 〰️understanding hEDS & HSD 〰️common co-occurring conditions such as autism & ADHD 〰️why “deeper” isn’t better in Yoga 〰️strength, stability, proprioception & active range of motion 〰️adapting movement & relaxation practices for hypermobile folk 〰️creating a supportive relationship with movement, breath & nervous system regulation It’s self-paced & online, with around 2 hours of theory content, a library of practices, and linked resources you can return to in your own time. One of the most common pieces of feedback I receive is that people finally feel understood. For EDS & HSD Awareness Month, the training is currently 50% off throughout May, and anyone who signs up this month will also get access to a bonus live online community session with me at the end of May. I really believe this education should be standard within Yoga Teacher Trainings. Hypermobile people are already in Yoga spaces. Teachers need to know how to support them better. My profile picture is new so I wanted to post it to the grid with a little re-introduction of myself, as I’ve also had some new followers join this year 🙂 I’m Jas. I’ve been teaching Yoga & meditation for 9 years, and have had a personal practice since I was a kid! I have spent years developing an accessible and trauma-informed approach to teaching Yoga. I’m a neurodivergent Yoga teacher living with a number of chronic illnesses including a connective tissue disorder, autoimmune conditions, and neuroimmune. My experience of living with hidden disabilities has shaped the kind of spaces I want to be a part of co-creating. My classes are thoughtfully planned and intuitively guided, always aiming to remain inclusive for different bodies and brains so that each practice meets people where they’re at, not asking them to be or do more. I bring a wealth of experience to holding space and designing workshops/ 1-1s/ group classes with care, connection, and inclusivity. My current core work at the moment is Yoga for Hypermobility and Associated Conditions. I deliver training to fellow Yoga teachers on this topic, specialised 1-1s for people with EDS / HSD, and run an entire online course about it too! When I am not working, you might find me writing poetry, reading books, doing a lot of resting and pacing, practicing my French & Spanish, making friends with animals, and sitting amongst the Spring flowers breathing in the hope of this season. Recently I got to do a photoshoot with the very talented @amyjrobinson_ (looking forward to sharing more of the images they captured!) I wanted to express the creativity behind my approach to facilitation, and to show accessibility and bright colour as opposed to what we often see in mainstream Western wellness culture; beige branding that matches the politically neutral stances of dominant wellness spaces. My values have always been part of what I do, and I cannot remain neutral in the face of injustice so on my socials/ in my newsletter you’ll see me talking about disability justice, LGBTQ+ rights, survivor justice, anti-facism etc. Thanks for being here! 😊🌻 Jas #AccessibleYoga by @byjasminesara
I love gay Halloween 💖 by @byjasminesara
Autumn is well and truly here! I love the colours of this season, the symbolism of Samhain, and of the trees shedding their leaves. I love the reminders to embrace darkness and the shadow side, that to be in balance we have to see and integrate all sides, not just the bright side. But I find the shorter days, cold, damp, grey, and rain difficult. As so many of us do. When the sky is blue and the sun is shining I’m okay(ish) with the Autumn-Winter period. But when the sun disappears for days at a time it can be a real slog getting through. Many of us with chronic illness have been dealing with the October Slide too, where symptoms and baseline get worse with the changing weather/ clocks and the increase of seasonal bugs. So solidarity to anyone dealing with that, it’s a lot. Wishing you all a beautiful Samhain, and a smooth transition into November ✨ You can join me for yoga: 🍂 Monday 2nd November 6pm with @stimcafe at Mindful Therapies NE1 🍂 Slow Flow Yoga weekly on Wednesdays 6:35pm @bodyimagefitness_newcastle in Heaton Classes are usually themed around the seasons so it can be a lovely way to remember we are a part of the shifting cycles in nature. by @byjasminesara
🧘‍♀️ Here’s what most Yoga trainings don’t teach about hypermobility (if they even mention it at all)… Hypermobility isn’t just about being “bendy”, it can come with joint instability, chronic pain, fatigue, GI issues, and more. And yet, hypermobile people often find themselves in yoga spaces where flexibility is glorified but not always understood. In certain styles there can be an over-focus on pushing into binds, deep twists, and postures that put strain on an already bendy body. This is your reminder that Yoga can absolutely support hypermobile bodies, but only when we approach it with nuance, care, and actual education!!! With an over-focus on flexibility and deep stretching in Yoga, existing symptoms can be exacerbated, as I’ve experienced myself before I understood how to adapt my Yoga practice for my hypermobile EDS body. That’s why I created an online training, and in person workshops, for both yoga practitioners and teachers: to raise awareness, share evidence-based tools, and make our movement spaces safer for the many of us living with hEDS, HSD, and associated conditions. My online training Yoga for Hypermobility and Associated Conditions is open for enrollment now - it’s all pre recorded content so you can learn at your own pace. It’s the missing module that I wish was on everyone’s curriculum when it comes to Yoga Teacher Training, PT courses, and any movement/ relaxation based modalities.

I’m back from teaching on our retreat in Morocco and I’m looking forward to my upcoming classes back in Newcastle (even if it is a bit more chilly here!) You can join me on: Wednesday 28th October, 18:35: Slow Flow Yoga @bodyimagefitness_newcastle in Heaton Monday 2nd November, 18:00: Yoga for neurodivergent adults with @stimcafe at Mindful Therapies in town. My teaching is trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming and hypermobility-friendly. Rather than asking you to fit yourself to the class, I encourage you to adapt the practice to suit your body and brain. Everything is optional and invitational. There is no pressure to push, perform or keep up. My classes are intentionally planned for you to be able to practise in a way that feels steady, supported and sustainable. Class feedback: “Work night evenings for me can be a mixed bag in terms of energy but Jas has a great way of tuning into this and offers lots of options to cater for every level of energy. Jas’s tailored yoga practice is a great mix of strength, flow, deep breathing, and relaxation.” “I was able to develop my body awareness and flexibility beyond my expectations, due to Jasmine’s sensitive and gradual teaching style. Jas has deep knowledge of how to make yoga more accessible and comfortable for everyone.” I’d love to see you there! Our week long yoga retreat in Morocco at the beautiful @babzouina is a week that will stay with us long after we’ve gone home and resumed day-to-day life! It was so amazing to see this week come together after over a year of preparation and planning behind the scenes. Getting to experience moments of peace, connection, and relaxation on retreat creates a resource that lasts forever. I always think October is an especially good time to do retreats because you create warm memories to return to as a light over the dark, cold winter period. Sangha is a Sanskrit word that means “community” and one of my favourite things about running retreats is the sense of togetherness that is created. Retreats hopefully offer something more than simply sharing a physical space — they are a way to co-regulate, which can be profoundly needed in our current culture that isn’t always centred around community and togetherness. Co-regulation, where your nervous system syncs up with others, can be restorative and energy giving. It would be fair to point out that a sense of Sangha, or community, may be easier to cultivate on retreat: you are, after all, away from the worries and demands of everyday life, with space to unwind and time to idle. The set-up supports spaciousness and time to connect as you have an amazing team sourcing ingredients and cooking your meals etc. This sense of connection might be more difficult to achieve in a one-hour yoga session squeezed between work and dashing home to cook, clean, and tend to other responsibilities. But the hope with having come on retreat is that you can find ways to integrate all that you experienced and practiced on retreat into small everyday glimmers once you get home. It can inspire new perspectives, new ways to cook, new friendships and more. Thank you so much to the wonderful group who joined us, and again to the amazing @babzouina who went above and beyond to make our stay so special! I have loved every moment spent here in this wonderful place 💚 #YogaRetreat #YogaRetreats by @byjasminesara
Slow Flow Yoga sped up (bit of a contradiction, but I think it can be helpful to see the range of movement / postures that can be involved in a short Slow Flow Yoga practice!) It gives space to move, breathe, be. And perhaps most importantly a moment away from all the To-Do-Lists to simply experience being in a human body. One of my all time favourite things about yoga is how it has helped me to befriend my body through all seasons of life. I’m back to teaching Slow Flow Yoga @bodyimagefitness_newcastle on Wednesday 28th October. Come and join me! I’ll be back all inspired from co-hosting a week long yoga retreat in Morocco. Hope to see some of you there ☺️ by @byjasminesara
Sharing some moments of peace & joy from our week long yoga retreat in Morocco! We had our usual balance of Yin/ Yang classes with @dorarubinstein teaching the more dynamic styles, and me leading the restorative & relaxation side. Then we even had our guest teacher @janekaypark treating our group to an Iyengar Yoga class too ☺️🩵 So much gratitude to the incredible team @babzouina who run such a beautiful retreat centre and take care of everything you need. It is the perfect place for people to relax, enjoy good food, and reconnect with nature 🌱 And of course huge thanks to our wonderful group of 19 people who joined us here in Morocco and made it such a special week! We even had our youngest retreat member, baby Raffy, bringing so much joy and wander. What a beautiful life this is 🫶 by @byjasminesara
Reflections On The Importance of Rest: Rest is a practice of slowing down, of reclaiming time and space in a culture that so often demands productivity, urgency, and constant output. Rest allows us to come back to ourselves, to soften into presence, and to restore our energy so that we can meet both the challenges and the joys of life with more resilience. At the same time, rest is not always easy. Many of us find it difficult to switch off, or feel guilty when we pause. Rest can also feel inaccessible, either because of external pressures or caring responsibilities, or the ever mounting To-Do-Lists calling for our attention. The ways rest is interrupted in our culture are many. Yet when we make time for rest, even in small ways, it can be a radical act of care for ourselves and, ultimately, for our communities too. When we are well rested, we are often better able to connect and take care of one another. A lot of my own understanding of rest has come from my lived experience of chronic illness and from fantastic writers and leaders such as Tricia Hersey who wrote Rest is Resistance where she encourages us to connect to the liberating power of rest, daydreaming, and naps as a foundation for healing and justice. She writes “Rest, in its simplest form, becomes an act of resistance and a reclaiming of power because it asserts our most basic humanity. We are enough. The systems cannot have us.” I’ve been sharing rest practices all week at our 7 Day Retreat in Morocco with @dorarubinstein in the form of Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra. I thought I’d pop a little post on here about it too as I rest at the beautiful retreat centre @babzouina while our lovely group goes out on a hiking trip! I am spending less time creating content, and marketing my current offerings, simply due to lack of capacity and a very limited amount of use-able hours. I have a lot going on behind the scenes with managing multiple complex chronic illnesses and yikes am I feeling the October Slide! Slow, steady, and minimal screentime is the current pace I need. I still have lots going on that you can book with me! There's my specialised online hypermobility pre-recorded training which you can enrol in anytime to access the full library of content. I also have 1-1 yoga & Integral Movement Method sessions with me in person, or online, with availability starting in November. Then there are my weekly group yoga classes in Heaton, and monthly yoga classes in town. I'm taking a full week off work 18th - 25th October and hope to come back restored. You can find the info for everything at www.jasminesara.co.uk Wishing you all a gentle transition into Autumn <3 and sending extra care to my fellow chronically ill folk!! by @byjasminesara
