3.5 years ago, the first thing Jay ever said to me was “marry me already.” Sunday, I said yes.

I obviously wrote an entire dissertation on how this happened because I still cannot believe these people successfully conspired against me. Swipe for the lore.

Slide 14 got cut off :
Lunch ends and she asks what we should do next. I’m like… we could enter a bean bag tournament? Go to the bar? Then I suggest maybe we should go to a park to digest and regroup. She rattles off like four parks we could go to, so I pick the one closest to us. They didn’t even have a LOCATION planned because apparently that was too risky with me. lmao

My company bought all these squishies. I’m the company 😂🤍

But really, this is part of what I want my company to be. A business that lets me do something I love, take care of my family, and show up for people in my community.

For my second annual toy drive I chose again to support The Christmas Box International, an organization that serves children, teens, and young adults who have experienced abuse, neglect, trafficking, or homelessness. Here in Utah, their work includes emergency shelters, essential supplies, and support for young people transitioning out of foster care. @thechristmasbox_intl

The kids asked for squishies. So squishies we’re finding. Because getting something you actually wished for matters. Every kid deserves to feel thought of, listened to, and excited to open their gift.

When you book with me, you help make things like this possible. That means a lot more to me than I can fit into a caption.

If you’d like to help, message me about donating new, unopened toys or squishies in the Salt Lake area. Leads on squishies at retail prices and shares of this post are so appreciated too 🫶

I always think about not only the photo, but where it will end up. Maybe in one of these kids future photo dumps someday with a caption about how cool their family is. Maybe a Mothers Day post that makes a mom cry before she even finishes her coffee. A Fathers Day frame sitting on a desk at work. Hung in the hallway of grandparents who stop and smile every time they pass it. Tucked into albums that get pulled out long after everyone has grown a little taller.

I think about these moments living far beyond today. About them being saved in ink with a brother and sister frozen in time exactly as they are right now. The gap between their teeth. The way their arms wrap around their parents. The chaos. The laughter. The quiet in between. This is not just for today. This is for every version of them that comes after this moment.

It isn’t always just about the “perfect” moment that makes it worthy of documenting for me. I get so inspired and motivated when I get to document the reality of “imperfect” moments. Sure, I can take photos posed or candid or editorial. But I want to document the day almost like a video where you can see and remember moments like these. The moments are that maybe stressful or chaotic in the moment, but they are the true reality of life at that time. Some of my favorite photos of my grandfathers film are moments taken where a baby is crying at the sight of having everyone sing happy birthday, or a moment where their child just didn’t want to leave their moms arms. It’s just reality, it is what it is. And it’s what…one day, you’ll look back on and remember the beauty of that time, the kids phases, the chaos, and miss it. My hope, is that people see these some where down the line, and say remember when.

Kindness & love, Jesse

Something I love about being a photographer is getting to show people how the world sees them. I couldn’t even count the times people tell me they are awkward in photos, and it is the best feeling in the world getting to prove them wrong. Take J & T for instance, we ran around for an hour laughing and joking, and maybe a few little arm circles to loosen up, hahaha but that said, I love creating an environment, a comfort where people feel like they can be themselves. A space where they aren’t worried about feeling awkward, or worried about how they look, but the moment we all are sharing. People never need to apologize for “being awkward”, because all I care about is them being themselves. Thats what I want to document. You being you. I want photos people can look at with your faces blurred and still know it’s you. Your energy, your love, your vibe, you.

Also enjoy a little fun shot we had at the end that had us dying 💀🧍🏽‍♀️
