wtf?!!! 😳

This tiny alien-looking thing is a baby brittle star 🫣⭐️

Brittle stars are echinoderms related to serpent stars and sea stars. They’re generally harmless scavengers/detritivores that spend their time crawling through the rockwork and cleaning up leftover food and organic debris.

I found this little guy trapped inside a micron sock/filter sock while servicing the tank. Because he was so ridiculously small, I pulled him out rather than letting him get stuck or get removed with the waste when the sock was cleaned.

He’s basically a miniature version of what will eventually become a much larger, fully developed brittle star. Nature is wild. 😂

Would you have known what this was?

Another day, another innocent fish sacrificed to the BBD buffet. 😭💀

Today’s special: Dalmatian Molly.

Tomorrow? Whatever moves too slow.

Cleaner shrimp are untouchable in the wild… predators line up and wait their turn. This is millions of years of evolution in my tank. 🦐🐍

Would you put your hand in a moray eel’s mouth for $100?

I asked you guys to name him. you came up with some good ones. his name was Mr. Balls. he was a Rhinopias- one of the rarest fish in the hobby. BBD ate him whole. 3x his size. we never even saw it happen. rest easy Mr. Balls 🖤 by @byjoshkap

anglerfish are ambush predators… they sit completely still for days, sometimes weeks, then strike in milliseconds. you never see it coming. neither did the fish.
