Lately, I’ve felt called to document my experiences working with animals & to share insights into various organizations’ wildlife conservation efforts.
For my first personal project, I visited the Miccosukee Tribe in the Florida Everglades to learn more about the significance of alligators in their culture, ecosystem, & traditions.
Alligators play a role in traditional lessons about survival & balance in nature. Today, the Miccosukee continue to interact with alligators through conservation efforts, cultural demonstrations & alligator wrestling — a practice that originally developed as a way to safely capture alligators for food but has since become a way to showcase traditional skills & knowledge.
