🌚 Spooky Vibes, Rural Appalachian Setting

Something is haunting this place.

It all might’ve started when those six teenagers died. An old fire tower collapsed, and it shook this rural town to its core. Now, the rumors run rampant. There’s talk of curses and serial killers. Since then, more mysterious deaths have left people suspicious of their neighbors in this small corner of Appalachia.

A volatile land surveyor is in the area for temporary work and soon falls for Lucy — the girl next door who is no stranger to tragedy — and decides to stay despite the town’s dark rumors. The couple hopes to one day escape the desolate place together, but they must bide their time and avoid Lucy’s disapproving father. When Hanae, a young ambitious journalist, arrives with an obsessive interest in the twisted rumors, their future together becomes even more complicated.

As Hanae investigates, it becomes clear that something sinister is lurking in this seemingly mundane town, and her list of suspects is short. In this gripping tale of rural Appalachia, love, and obsession, the lines between reality and perception blur, pushing the people of this town to desperate measures, even murder.

What’s really haunting this place? Curse or killer?

Enjoy this excerpt from my book that is OUT NOW!
📚
“Town” by M. Ridgway
Novella - 133 pages
Psychological Suspense

“Her lifeless body sank into the grass. Weeds, and moss crawled over her pale arms and legs, while her lips, a sickly gray, cracked and began to bleed. I scrambled over to her, not fast enough. The freshly turned dirt was absorbing her body, sinking and sinking while mud bubbled up around her. It leaked into the creases of her arms, the line of her lips, and into her eyelashes.

In another moment, she would sink entirely out of my reach.”

Town, by M. Ridgway

I wrote a psychological suspense novella called “Town.” It follows a wayward surveyor who arrives in a small mountain town for work and soon falls for the girl next door. But when the town’s rumors and legends of a mysterious curse begin to feel all too real, escaping together becomes crucial. What’s haunting this town; curse or a killer?
