• The concept of this garment is inspired by Yalda Night and Mithraism—two profound and deeply rooted traditions in the ancient history of Iran that embody philosophical, ritualistic, and symbolic meanings. In ancient beliefs, Yalda Night is recognized as the birth night of Mithra, the symbol of light, illumination, and the triumph over darkness. The core essence of this design is the narrative of the end of darkness and the gradual movement toward light and awareness.
• The overall silhouette of the garment is shaped through pleating and draping, which at first glance evoke the rays of the sun and the expansion of light through space. When viewed inversely, these drapings reference the architectural forms of Mithraic temples—sacred spaces where rituals associated with the birth of light were once performed.
• The underlying layer of the garment is made of black velvet, symbolizing darkness, night, and the starting point of the journey. The eggplant-colored taffeta used in the draped sections represents the gradual fading of darkness and the beginning of the transition toward illumination. Subsequently, the lilac lace signifies the complete dissolution of darkness and the attainment of pure light.
• The gemstones embroidered onto the garment reflect the final brilliance and radiance—the moment when darkness fully disappears. Additionally, the necklace designed for this piece, inspired by the symbol of the sun, emphasizes the concepts of luminosity, the birth of light, and the victory of brightness over obscurity.
• Overall, this design presents a visual and symbolic narrative of Yalda Night, the birth of Mithra, and the inner journey of humankind from darkness toward light, awareness, and enlightenment.
