Hey y’all, I know we posted earlier today, but just a quick reminder. ✨This is a Black safe space, for everybody BLACK ✨

As a Black woman-owned and operated company, everything I create comes from my experiences and those of my people. While others may find similarities in their own journeys, it wouldn’t be authentic for me to speak from any perspective but my own. Who better to tell our stories than those living them every day? While I appreciate your presence, your participation (unless it’s a friendly chat) is neither necessary nor required. Furthermore, real people with real feelings run this page—and one of us was born without a filter and won’t hesitate to match your energy.

Now, let’s address something real quick.

Since our recent posts have been getting more traction, the trolls and racists have started creeping in. Let me be clear—I do NOT condone or tolerate hate in any form. If you don’t like what you see, keep it pushing. This page—or that post—might not be for you, and that’s okay. There is no need to recklessly comment. Free will is a thing, so PLEASE use it wisely.

If you still decide to take that route, just make sure you can’t be tracked, because I love me a good search. 👀 You just betta hide ya kids and hide ya wife!!!! Cuz when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

To everyone else here in good faith, I see you, I appreciate you, and we’re gonna keep doing what WE do. Amen? 🙏🏿

There she is!!! 😍 @shesmsjames posted at @blackmarketflea. Honestly y’all…..I be forgetting how fine I am sometimes, as if I’m not a force to be reckoned with. Like…..do you see this material?! The face, the head, the skin just a glistening? 😮‍💨 Chile I don’t know about y’all, but I woulda BEEN snatched me up. Me and bae should be having a water balloon fight in the front yard waiting for the grill to heat up right now, but instead I’m sitting on my couch preparing for the heat, trying to muster the guts to watch that Deliverance movie on Netflix. 😞

Jesus loves gangsters too. 🫂 I’m not sure what words IG chooses to censor from small creators who are trying to promote their businesses and events, but if you see this I would love to see you! 🥹

Come hug my neck tomorrow at @blackmarketflea and shop our bomb ass coaster and card selection. We’ll also have my favorite fabric bookmarks that are NOT in the site quite yet, but soon come. We’ll be setting up RIGHT next to the main stage and bar! Front row seats to the show with a purchase 😍

And/or come create with me and @theblkcraftsroom as we lead a sacred art making workshop with @handsinthesoil at Arlington Garden in Pasadena. Both days will be pretty warm, so make sure you hydrate!

Sacred art practice, w/ @theblkcraftsroom !!!

With it being Black August, it made sense to collaborate with our dear sister @bymsjames and her dope craft room experience to bring forth an artistic way to carry our memories AND visions from our hearts and Into our homes.

We will be writing letters and creating collages that we can add to any personal sacred space (home, office or place of business)

ALL ARE WELCOMED, with a special invite to our Black community of Altadena and Pasadena!

I want this to live on my page and not just in the stories. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything about the shit that bothers me.

We’ve been made to feel numb toward the injustices of Black folks. Our killings have been televised and the perps are rewarded with slaps on the wrist, same as it’s always been. Where a young brother was sentenced to 30 years for protecting himself from becoming another Nolan Wells. Where Black bodies are being picked off the trees like the strange fruit Billie spoke of. And somehow the world continues to pretend that Black skin isn’t frowned upon no matter where the fuck you go…………………………

Different country. Different language. Different laws. Same shit.

I refuse to accept that the continued violence against us is something that we’re just supposed to learn to live with. And they want us to sit up here and act like we don’t see what’s happening?

“Stay in your place, boy!” “Oh, she’s an angry Black woman!” Well you know what?

Yes. The. Fuck. I. Am. Angry. BITCH!

I’m pissed off!!!!!!

Because how do we, as Black people, know that we won’t be next? They been playing in our faces and I don’t like that. Smh.

Every Black family has a matriarch. Nobody talks about what it takes to become her.

In the new issue of Nobody Told Me This, @afroangelena_ writes about watching her mom become the family matriarch — the doorbell ringing all Christmas Day, the mac and cheese only she can make, the grief and the weight that come with the seat at the head of the table. And she introduces Mama: the neighborhood matriarch who showed up in a nightgown with ice-cold water the day Dana moved to L.A., and never let go.

For every Black woman thinking about family, legacy, and the women we’re becoming.
