Sandra and Kayla are the mother-daughter duo behind Northern Virginia based Be Your Own Guest Events. We each bring a host of different perspectives to design events but unite in a core philosophy that we’ve built our business on – turning your dreams into reality .
We started this business based off the joy it brings, helping each vision turn into something bigger and that no vision is the same.

🎀 In October, we wear PINK! 🎀

This month, Tapas Mar & BYOG are showing love and support for everyone affected by breast cancer—the ones fighting, the survivors, the loved ones standing beside them, and those we hold in our hearts. 💗

Behind every pink ribbon is a person, a story, and a community that can help them feel supported. 🫶

We created this pink-inspired board for a client, bringing a little extra love to every bite. 🩷

☁️ A DAY IN THE CLOUDS | MONTSERRAT, SPAIN 🇪🇸
Day ✌🏽 (cont🤭)

Some places are just too beautiful to capture in one video… and Montserrat was definitely one of them. 🥹

High in the mountains of Catalonia sits the breathtaking Montserrat Monastery, a place filled with over 1,000 years of history, faith, art, and culture.

Founded in 1025, the monastery is home to the famous Black Madonna, La Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia. From the incredible architecture of the basilica to the centuries of stories behind its walls, there was something beautiful around every corner.

We wandered through the church, took in all the little details, lit a candle for our loved ones 🕯️, and of course, couldn’t leave without exploring the local market and trying some of the goodies! Because you know we’re always going to find the food. 🤭

And while the fog may have hidden those famous mountain views, it made the entire experience feel like we were walking through the clouds. ☁️✨

A little history, a little faith, a little food, and a whole lot of beauty.

Day ✌🏽 in Barcelona 🤭

Well… this escalated… internationally. 🌍💍

Somewhere between the little streets, seaside kisses, and “one more drink,” we added a wedding to the itinerary.🫣

Barcelona, Day One 🇪🇸🍷✨

Germany ➡️ Spain!

Barcelona welcomed us with… a storm. 😂⛈️ So we spent the morning playing video games and sipping sangria. Pero- no pasa nada…we’re on vacation, right? 🤓

Then we headed up Tibidabo to visit the beautiful ✨Basílica del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús✨watching over Barcelona from the mountaintop. Built between 1902 and 1961, it’s a little reminder that some beautiful things take their time. ⛪️🤍

Next stop: ✨La Brasa Roja✨where we had ceviche and chicken with patatas and salad—and let me tell you… 10/10 from me.🤤 Mateo’s food review is coming so you can get the full breakdown from our very own little food critic. We’ll see if our ratings match. 😂🎤

We also walked past the breathtaking ✨Basílica de la Sagrada Família✨
Construction began in 1882, and Antoni Gaudí took over the project in 1883, shaping it into the extraordinary landmark we get to admire today. Even a walk past deserves a pause. 😍

And our final adventure? ✨Mercadona.✨Because obviously we needed a grocery-store snack haul to complete the cultural experience. 🛒😂

Back home to end the night with a cafecito, sangria, all the snacks, and family time. ☕️🍷🤍 A little sightseeing, a lot of eating, and getting to Be My Own Guest along the way.🤭

What’s your vacation personality: lay up , explore every landmark, follow the food, or browse the grocery store like it’s a tourist attraction? 👀👇 I’m clearly all the above 🤷🏽‍♀️

48 hours in Germany 🇩🇪✨
Family time, castle views, rounds of flaming sambuca shots, and food I will absolutely be thinking about long after this trip. 😂🔥

First up: Eisenwerkschänke in Schwelm—1000/10. This cozy spot has been welcoming guests since 1977, with rooms full of antiques and old-world charm. 🕯️

We had garlic aioli mushrooms, French onion soup, and a chicken skewer with a baked potato SLATHERED in sour cream. Yes, slathered deserves all caps. 🤤 If you’re traveling to or anywhere near Wuppertal, put this place on your list!

Then we hopped on the Seilbahn Burg chairlift to explore Schloss Burg. 🏰 Dating back to around 1130, it was originally the family seat of the Counts of Berg—and casually made us feel like we’d stepped into a storybook.

But the best part? Making these memories with family. 🤍

Germany, you were short and oh-so-sweet… now, which country is making its way onto the feed next? 👀✈️🌍
