New WIP I started this evening. How does it read? Using a new technique in my process. Might hang this at @jewelboxcafe_ while I have other pieces showing there... If it finishes off-gassing soon. 😷

6x6NW is tomorrow at the PUB building on SCC Campus! Sadly yet again, 😞 I will not be able to attend due to my work schedule at my day job. But, something has to pay for an art habit, née career aspirations, along with supporting a partner and prospective family soon. Posting again in hopes that some of you PNW's might come out to check out an awesome public exhibition of other artists, and maybe find these works of mine, and think about purchasing one! All works of mine are on 6x6 flat-backed canvas. Love you all. @shorelakearts #byrdmannarts #6x6NW #pnwlife #spraypaintart by @byrdmannarts

Random works tonight. Fighting with canvas and faces are looking back at me. Landscapes are pushing thru on some. Here for you to observe- and tell me who you see.

INJURY CANVAS! Quick work tonight on a piece. I saved this canvas for a playaround. It got a hole in it, and I was looking for a moment where I could play with that. I might actually name this piece- Wild Waves. A lot of us that grew up in the Pacific Northwest loved Wild Waves theme park, and it will soon be closing as far as I know. I never was a swimmer or a lover of water parks. But, between the surf Rock commercials we saw as kids always urging us for our parents to take us there for a fun weekend- it's always been a cultural imprint, and an important part of our local history. So I gather this is my tribute. Also, thank you to @nick_mannos because he gave me a water soluble graphite stick to work with for fun- I love a challenge to the medium. Little bit of oil pastel too on this one. Terrible work yet! I might actually have something interesting coming out of it soon! Heh.. maybe not that bad tho.. I'm a rough critic.I really want to work with that medium a little bit more when adding to what I do with aerosols. And continue to add to it.

Here, laid out for you, my observers- are my submissions for 6x6NW this year- with their titles on a reel.

I really hate giving titles/names to my pieces. I look at them objectively, but once I have to name them, it's my subjective impression upon/of them as an observer. I hope that you will all look at these beyond their titles and find images and scenarios that reflect or resonate with you, as an observer, and make your own judgments on my movements. Make your own decision on what you see and forget the name. In fact- tell me what you see and feel free to comment. I want to know what you see too.

I hope you all have an excellent week. Continue creating, absorbing, and loving art. Blessings to you all!

Got supercharged tonight! Had a long day at work, did a little volunteer work, then went and saw @nick_mannos first solo show down at @locuswines which was an awesome event! I sped home to try to get nine paintings done for 6x6NW, at least put on one layer or two on a couple. We'll see if I make the deadline! I started with nine, that grew into a couple of more. We'll see what happens in the next couple of days! I hope to show in that expo as I did last year, but if I don't I've got works on a small scale to show otherwise. It's all here for you unfiltered to see... Layers one and two on these works. #byrdmannarts #pnwartist #spraypaintartwork by @byrdmannarts

Working on submissions for 6x6NW. Layer one is set up as a 3-way tryptic. The pieces will then be separated and made into their own individual pieces. #pnwartist #spraypaintartwork #seattlebasedartist #byrdmannarts by @byrdmannarts

I struggled to get the works that I do in a macro sense to work in the micro. When I got jet set on this journey of painting, I first did a lot in micro. 6x6NW/ 6x6 Northwest exhibition was where I first showed. It taught me some restraint, but I always would feel better working on larger canvas or other medium. I've gone through a lot of experimentation over the last year. As I will enter into that exhibition again, or at least intend to this year, I'm trying to restrain myself again, and go back to some of the basics in my art. This one shows a lot for how I can scale it down- at least as far as my eye is concerned. #byrdmannarts #pnwartist #blackandwhiteart #spraypaintartwork #chiaroscuro (does it really count as the last?! I don't much care I just like contrast!) by @byrdmannarts

Some of my new WIPs from last week. Actually, these all seem rather complete and ready to fly. A new dose of encouragement and I'm back on it. #byrdmannarts #pnwartist #spraypaintartwork by @byrdmannarts
