I dreamt of tabling at an art market for the longest time so there was no better way to start than kicking off #pridemonth with @oakland.secret 🦄

With every new experience, there’s a lot of learning 🌱 Here’s what I’ll either do differently or continue to do in my future adventures:

1. Give yourself time to meet other artists and explore their work. Hands down my FAVORITE part of the market was meeting new artists!! Y’all got me giggling and kicking my feet 🎀 My main goal is building community and spotlighting the fundr@iser I’m supporting, so this was such a perfect chance to engage with likeminded people 🎯
2. Prepare notes or freebies to show gratitude and promote customer retention! I made thank you packages with a note, discount ticketto bring to my next event, and a free sticker of their choosing. It would always be a moment of shared delight 🤸‍♂️
3. Engage with buyers at the level they seem to be comfortable with. I just greeted people and ~vibed~ until they engaged with me first. I noticed it made people feel more comfortable browsing and less awkward about stepping away (valid but I miss u come back) 💌
4. Your display setup really matters. A good setup highlights your hard work AND reduces confusion. My signage was nonexistent, causing a lot of questions that could’ve been answered if I came more prepared! Oop- 🤡
5. Cancel any plans afterwards. I was exhausted and just needed to sit tf down. Take care of yourselves 💖

I was so nervous at first but all my lovely friends, old and new, made the experience so fun! Special shoutout to @ayezeem and @art.sude for sharing your art in support of @abod__ismail and his family! 🫂
