#Mourning

I’m so happy with the way this turned out and I hope some people can find comfort in it, or resonate with Clementine. I contemplated writing a little blurb for this and I think I shall, I just hope this isn’t too pretentious and that I’m making sense. The brief for this project was to create a short film based off of a chosen prompt. The prompt I chose specified that an influencers morning routine plays out perfectly until small imperfections crept in resulting in a downward spiral, which then led me to create this. While creating this film, I showed the rough cut to some people who asked me a multitude of questions, including “What’s the theme?” “What message are you spreading?” ect ect. And to be honest, I wasn’t really making this with the intent of highlighting a theme or message. More so, I feel as though this is somewhat of a female experience that I’m sure a lot of girls and women alike can relate to. This has been inspired by my lived experience as a teenage girl. For a long period of time, the idea of pretty privilege consumed/ disturbed me and I used to wish that I (my consciousness and soul) could leave my physical body and exist as some orb of light. However that hasn’t happened yet. As cringe as it sounds I think true beauty does come from the inside. No one can help their genetic makeup, or the arrangement of features on their face, however people have the power over how they chose to act (which would make up parts of their soul ) and I think that counts for something.
